Rough week

Ok let me just say it's been a rough week.  And since I haven't posted in awhile, I'm gonna recap a bit.
Last Thursday my Shug took half a day off of work and my nephew came up and we moved some furniture pieces that would help with storage.  Dressers, cabinets, and shelves. Heavy stuff.  This particular unit was in the upstairs of our garage.
We moved it to the room next to our bedroom in the new house.  I was all motivated to get stuff put away, until it hit me.  The stomach flu.  Ack....I threw up every 20-30 minutes the entire night on Sunday.  I know, too much information.  Well I could get a lot more detailed....but I won't.  Let me just say it's been rough.  I haven't left the house since Sunday evening and it's now Thursday.
And on top of that, my computer hasn't been working.  Until now.
What in thee hell peeps?
Please, will someone tell me why it works some days, hours, weeks...and then it just quits.  The best way I can describe it is it's like a starter on a car when it's going bad.  It grinds and acts like it's going to start up, then it goes down.  This morning,I tried half a dozen times and so far it's working.  Last week it worked fine every day. If you have any answers please let me know.
Anyway, this is the shelving unit they were moving.  It's going to help tremendously.
On Saturday, before the dreaded flu...my friend Teresa and I went to Horton's in Tipton, IN.
This is what the entrance into their restroom looks like now.  Love it.
I saw a sled at a sale somewhere and I didn't buy it because it was in rough shape.  I wish I did! They painted this one white and glittered it. Cute idea for a worn out sled.
I always come home from there so motivated, then never know where to start.
But start I did!  My friend and I stopped at a garage sale on the way to Horton's and I bought this for $5.00!  My Shug and I have been wanting a plant stand for our patio.  This would be perfect if it wasn't too rough.  It was missing all kinds of bolts and it was pretty rusty.  But for $5.00 I figure I could scrap it.

Shug changed the ball on top of it to this pineapple thingy,
sanded some of the rust
added bolts, and painted it.  Ok so maybe he is the one that got creative, not me!  But I bought the stand to begin with, so that's something!  I had the vision!
 And here it is!
And this is half of our patio.  See those windows, those are the windows in the room we're living in.  Room.
He also painted this birdcage yellow, because he felt we had too much green going on.  And I gave him a couple of Patti Beck birds to put in it.  Cute!
The other half of our patio.  More windows.  I reckon I should take a full on picture, but I didn't.  Next time maybe.  We'll add greenery and such to our patio next summer.  This is just a start.
The other thing I did was get this mess of costume jewelry all sorted out. What a mess.  It kinda got jumbled when we moved it.  I needed an idea for my earrings so I got on pinterest and got part of an idea.  Take an old picture frame and put burlap in it (they used screen wire) and hang the earrings on the burlap.  I can't find my burlap. Anywhere.  I looked and looked.  It must be at the other house.  I am not buying more burlap...or screen for that matter.
I did find my yarn though (not hard to do) and finished this hat I made for my Mom, if she wants it.  She hinted around that she wanted one.

Ok - so this whole time my computer is still up and running.  I feel like I should keep on blogging....I won't....not to worry.  I hope to visit you all and comment before it shuts down on me....but who knows.  I do keep up on my phone, but I'm so slow typing on my phone.

I just want to say one more thing....if you made it this far...

I would like to point out a particular post I'm impressed with if you have a chance please read it.  It's Blether's (see my side bar) and it's her political rant post.  Very inspirational.  Very well written.

  1. Oh Dear I hope you are feeling better. The finds are great love the birdcage(I don't know why). If your Mom does not want that hat I would:)
I think your computer sucks I don't know anything about computers but when mine does not work that is what I think about it. I know those technical terms are hard to take:)
Take care and lots of hugs. Off to check out Blether. B

  2. Love how your patio is shaping up ... the plant stand looks fab and the birdcage is such fun!

Hope you're feeling much better soon. Not sure about your computer problems ... are you up-to-date on all your operating system / software updates / virus checks and de-fragging (if you're on a Windows machine!)? Before I ask my husband for help I always check I've got everything up-to-date and have done a full shut down and reboot ... then I admit defeat and get him to take a look!!! My old Windows machine used to run really slowly and grind to a halt if I didn't do all those things regularly (happily I switched to Apple about 3 years ago and I hardly ever have any problems - life is much less stressful!). Fingers crossed yours keeps working!
