In my blog I plan to chat about nature, crafts, baking, gardening, beekeeping, family, and whatever else seems appropriate at the time. Sit back, relax, and enjoy!

What a day....

Hey look at me!  Two posts in one day!  Short and sweet.
Fi, these pics are for you.

Hope they help.
I commented in the last post that it is not embroidered.  It's just the material.
Is this folk art too?  I was looking through my stash that's easy to get to. But as I also said in the comment, I wouldn't know folk art if it bit me....well, you know where.
So...today, I moved stuff allll day long. Thinking I was really making progress. When I got to the end of moving stuff, I got a bit down because I just feel like there is no end to it all.  And then I came home and backed into this.

Seriously?  I even pulled up and backed up again so I'd miss it.
And I hear KaThunk.
Shit.
And of course, my Shug pulled in right behind me.
No, I don't stress eat....why?

Blogging Mojo, Dumbkoff Computer, and a whole bunch of other stuff!

I hate it when this happens.....I've lost my blogging mojo.
I lost it a couple of months ago when my old computer went kaput.
I know two German words...and I really don't know that they are German, but my Pa said they were when we were growing up.  One is kaput and one is dumpkoff.  I doubt I spelled them right and they probably need some of these ' apostophre' things somewhere....but anyway, the point is....I lost my mojo.  And here's the thing....I thought it was the new computer that I don't love like I loved my Roofus.   See this post.
One reason..for example....why in thee hell does the text get bigger and smaller when I don't do anything to make it bigger and smaller?  It just happens.  You can't see the difference on the blog, it's the way it is viewed when I'm typing.  I'll be typing along and vrrrrooom - text is HUGE or really really small....it ticks me off.  Dumbkoff computer.  Hey I think I just came up with my computer's new name!!!!

Speaking of Pa - we celebrated his birthday the other day.  77 Years Young my Pa is...His name is Charles Thomas...but depending on where you know him from, well that determines what you call him.  People that he used to work with call him Tom or Charlie....his immediate family from growing up call him Tommy...one time some sales guy called him Chuck and I just laughed.  Stupid sales guy.  No one has EVER called my Pa, Chuck.  (dumbkoff)  Anyway, people usually get their own birthday post on my blog....but I am forever getting caught up.

Here is the second reason I've lost my blogging mojo.  I have no schedule in my life.  NONE.  Used to be....I'd get up in the morning, say Good-Bye to my Shug, fix my coffee, get on my computer.  Then do things around the house or whatever was planned for the day.  Now I get up and move stuff.....every day.
Move move move move move.....

pile....pile...pile....pile...pile....
Then find a place to put things....CONSTANTLY.  I'm tired of it.
At night I have no patience to screw around with this new computer.  So I don't.  I lay in bed reading blogs on my phone. But starting tomorrow, I'm going to try to get a routine going again.  I get so much more done with a routine.

The one thing about moving is you find things you forgot you had....

Like this cake stand.
I also found a jar of apple walnut delight.  yum.
I put it on some oatmeal for breakfast today.  You'd pay a lot of money for this at Starbucks.

The other thing about moving....
You realize you have too much stuff. Not that I didn't know this before, but I have also changed my style a bit too.   So, I'm going to get rid of some stuff.

I am going to have a booth, with another Granny Bee, at the Winter Woolen Workshop.  If you look at the last few years, you'll see this is something I am a part of every year.  But I've never had a booth. It's held at two mansions in Kokomo, IN, and people come from all over to attend.  It's always held in February, and this year it is on the 23rd and 24th.  There is a $10.00 fee to get in, which covers both days, and that money goes to the Historical Society.
I've decided to try a couple of markets this year too, if I can find a couple that will have me.  I have linens, picture frames, old suitcases, tea cups, saucers, etc.

One last thing....
Groovy Girl Yarn.
She is having a super bowl party and SALE this Saturday.
See her blog (on my side bar) for times and such.  There will be munchies.....and yarn....need there be more!
And I am teaching a basic crochet class on Thursday, February 7th from 1:00 - 3:00.  So, if you want to learn to crochet, sign up, pay up, and show up!
I've been crocheting a dishcloth and a flower (above) once a week.  Just one.  Usually on a Sunday.  By the end of the year I should have a nice supply of dishcloths and maybe a few stashed away for gifts.  I'm not doing anything special...just a double crochet or a garter stitch.  Quick and easy and ready to use.
The flowers...no pattern....just random.  I am going to hook them all together at the end of the year for a table runner...or two....or three!

OK I'm done rambling, except for one more last thing....my new computer...does NOT fit in my old weathered leather satchel.   Dumbkoff computer!

A hexagon ball

So, the other night I was in bed, reading blogs on my I-phone and I came across this hexagon tutorial
And somewhere, or maybe I dreamed it, I saw where they put hexagons together to make a ball.
And I thought...what a cute gift idea for a baby!  And my friend, who happens to own a yarn store, just became a Grandmother.
So I started crocheting hexagons, but for the life of me I could NOT find that ball pattern again.
But tonight at crochet...."K" and I figured it out!
Stitch three together, then stitch one hexy on the bottom,

and one partially on the top.

I rolled a rather large bell up in batting...
and I kept rolling it until it was the right size to fit in the ball.
Stuff it inside the opening then stitch it closed.

 What do you think?

 I love it!

One big honkin' post to get caught up!

Ok so I just downloaded a ton of pics....Tell you what....I'm not even going to go into all the reasons why I haven't been blogging much.  One word...Windows 8...ok one word and one number....  That's all I'm going to say about that.  So instead of messing around trying to get little posts done here and there, I am going to get caught up in one big honkin' post!

Here we go....go grab a cup of tea...or wine...or coffee...

So, a couple of days before Christmas I am laying in bed, and as usual, I am reading facebook or blogs on my I-phone (which is the easiest thing in the world to use btw)  And I see a post from Nicki at The Vintage Farmhouse on facebook.(she's on my sidebar and does a lot of fun stuff on facebook)

It said something like...".I'm so excited...but I can't say why yet.  I'm getting 88 of something but I don't want to say what until they are in my truck."  So I said, "I want one!"
She sent me a text and said how do you know you want one you don't even know what they are?  I told her I was just being funny...cracking myself up.  Then I said, "tell me what they are, you know you want to tell someone."  She told me, and I did want one!
So I asked a couple of people to go with me and Notaro (Granny Bee) said she'd go.  Remember this was a couple of days before Christmas!  In a town about an hour away. A busy time.  But we went.

I came home with four!  Three ladies and a man!  Funny.  I don't even have a business....
But I've wanted one, (dress form, not business)and I'm thinking about setting up at a few markets this year to sell some vintage stuff I have.  We'll talk about that later.  Beth and I also did some shopping in the quaint town of Zionsville.  It was a fun day.

I forgot to show you this little and simple crafty thing I did.  I took a gingerbread hole punch that I bought for half price at Hobby Lobby, and punched out some gingerbread out of grocery sacks.  Then I glued them to this bakers twine, and hung them on the bakers rack.  It's so cute I still haven't taken it down.

Still.....

still....

But I did take down all of my Christmas decorations.  I just love looking at them. Can you tell?

Now....you probably don't remember this...but I told you we had a winter storm after Christmas and it made our driveway very slick.  I think I even told you about my Shug almost hitting a tree. But at the time I didn't have a computer so I couldn't download pics.  Well, here you are.  This is looking out our basement window.
I tried to get a picture of how our driveway is...See the tire tracks.  See the walkout wall...well we are living in a room in the basement and the wall is right by where we park our cars.  The tire tracks show how we drive from the walkout wall, and make a "U" turn.
My Shug didn't do the "U"

He tried...but his truck is not very good in this weather.
He came within several inches of hitting this tree....whew!

On New Years eve we went out with my cousin Vickie and her husband Robert.  We went to a casino not far from my Sister's house for about an hour and they had this poor tiger in a cage.  It really angered me.  Really people?  Can't you just get a dog.
Then we went to my Sister and her husband's house to celebrate NYE.  It was a fun party. We played games, ate food and drank a little bit.  I noticed that the people who attended the party last year, were being extra cautious this year!  No french martinis!

Last week...yup, we are up to last week already.  My Mom and Dad and Sister and I went to the Hilbert Circle Theatre to Happy Hour and a concert.  The band was Time for Three.  We've gone the last two years.  I think this third time will be my last.

It was way too crowded.  And they usually have a lot of food and drink booths, but this time they only had about four food booths, so the lines were really long.
We ate what food we did get on the window ledge upstairs....

enjoying this view of the circle in Indianapolis.
These ladies were standing by us and my sister said they are us in a few years!  We decided even though I'm the one always taking pictures, that in this picture, I was the lady with the drinks, because it was really her camera.  Just a silly thing we do.

And one day last week I went to court.  Not for me, I went to support my cousin in a stupid case that shouldn't even have made it to the judge.  No criminals involved...you know...the usual.....kids...support...etc.  But I tell you that to show you the HOT PINK SOCKS I wore to court.  No one knew.  Not even Vickie! (my cousin!)  I looked all sophisticated on the outside....{sigh}  I remember the days when I wore other Hot under-clothes and they weren't socks.  I know I know...TMI!

Then there was the day I was in town and passed a house getting new windows.   I called my Shug.  I said, "SHUG PLEASE go get these windows for me."  He said, "no we have too much shit at home...blah blah blah..."  He loves me :-)  He got them.  I have a potting shed made out of windows like this for the greenhouse part, and I told him I'd never move unless I get a new potting shed like the old one.

And one day last week I ran Groovy Girl Yarn Store (See side bar) while she was at the hospital with her daughter who was having a baby.  And one of the regulars came in with her finished Christmas tree skirt!  Gorgeous!
I've started another Lucy bag made with Weekend yarn.  Why am I making another one?  Winter Woolen Workshop is coming up.  We'll talk more about that later too.  I might have a booth there if there is still room.  Summer is coming.  I might need a beach bag.  (or a pond bag since we don't really have a lake...or a beach)
And lastly...and I haven't been taking pictures because I keep forgetting....but I am working my hiney off trying to get the other house cleaned out by the end of January.  It was one of my January goals...and with Marilyn's help, I think I'm going to do it!

Sooo....I think I'm about as caught up as I'm going to be.  Sorry it's so long.  I'm anal like this...trying to record everything.
Gonna go to bed now...with my phone...see ya on facebook or your blog.
