Arrived in Maine ~ Saturday, June 16

Last summer Cousin Vickie asked our family to come to Maine with her, and her husband Robert, for a vacation.  Robert had to spend his summers growing up with his grandparents in Kennebunkport.  Poor Robert.   So here is Mom and Dad, going through airport security.  Do you know that after you reach a certain age, you don't have to take your shoes off through security!

First part of the flight went off without a hitch.  Here they are in LaGuardia airport, waiting for our second leg of the flight.

YAY!  We all made it to Portland, Maine with no problems or delays.

And see the guy holding the hand-made sign!  That's Robert!!!  He met us at the airport!

He and Vickie had the van rented and Robert and his brother John picked us up.  When we got to our beach house, Vickie had cheese and crackers and little meats waiting for us to snack on.  Plus beer and wine.
Which this child could not drink!  Grandpa (Dad to me) was her accomplice.  So he got in trouble first thing.

You can tell it affected him!
We all raised our glasses to a fun week and the fact that this day finally came after months of planning!

Here are some pictures of the area where we stayed.

That middle house is the one we were in.  And the amazing thing about this place is the tide.  It goes WAY out during the day, and comes WAY in at night!  During the day there is a beach.  At night there isn't.  The water goes all the way up to the rocks.
My Shug thought he was going to swim.  Water was 52 degrees!  brrrrrr...

After checking out the area we ordered pizza for dinner and relaxed at the beach house.

hmmmm.......

I just returned from a great vacation in Maine.
And while I am downloading pictures to show you the trip we took,
I thought I'd share this little tidbit....

I got it a week before we left.  When I first got it I started asking my Shug questions, even though it said not to.  He said for me not to drive him crazy with this, and he said it in that voice that I knew I'd best not drive him crazy!  So.....I just thought I'd share the suspense with all of you!

I have no idea.....

Jimmy Buffet Concert

 May 24, 2018
I was ready to go see Jimmy Buffet in concert...

First stop was my sisters house.  And we were celebrating my birthday (and Chris' birthday) and look what my sister, who claims to not be crafty, made me!  A picture frame.  It is SO CUTE!

Chris and I with our Happy Birthday sashes on.  You can't see them because of all of the tropical paraphernalia that needs to be worn to Jimmy Buffet concerts.
If you've never been to a Jimmy Buffet concert, you would be surprised at the amount of tailgating that goes on.  I took a few pics.

This was our little spread.  My sister, again, made all of this!
I offered to help but she said no she'd do it.
The others had to work, and drive the farthest, so they wouldn't have had time to do much except change and head my way!
So we only had a little bit of time to tailgate.

But check out some of the creative tailgaters!  A bar made out of pallets.

 Games and music...
 and another bar.
It was amazing.  Now....let me just say it was so stinkin' hot that day.  It was in the 90's and we had to wait in an unbelievable line while they scanned every single person and looked in their purses and had us shake our blankets (for sitting on) out.

We even had to take off our hats and leis and such....

So this guy holding up a surfboard made me so happy because he was blocking the sun from baking us!
We had to take a few group photos because I need a good one for my new frame!  So, there's Chris, then Vickie (cousin) then me, then Vickie's daughter (Adult Ashley - second cousin - something like that) and sister Theresa.

These people parasailed in to the concert!
Jimmy was only a couple of inches tall but he had great stage back drops!
We were so glad when the sun set because it cooled us off.  Hey we weren't complaining though because it didn't rain!  And what a gorgeous sunset!
Drinks were an absolute ridiculous amount of money.  Thanks Vickie and Ashley. They bought a big glass of wine that we split five ways and two big glasses of water that we split.  Smart thinkin!  I got ticked off because they wanted $7 for a bottle of water!
We all had a great time!  And LET ME JUST SAY it is NOT my birthday yet.   So don't wish me Happy Birthday YET!   If you remember I said I was celebrating all year.  I'll be 60 in just two short weeks!    And I'm celebrating!
