In my blog I plan to chat about nature, crafts, baking, gardening, beekeeping, family, and whatever else seems appropriate at the time. Sit back, relax, and enjoy!

My Non-Florida Trip Souvenirs and other life stuff

Thank you for all of your sweet comments.
I am celebrating Spring now.
I did get some pansies over the weekend.
and some cute spring ducks!  My Easter pet!
I decided to hold off on the tulips for Easter.

Saturday morning I texted a friend to see if she wanted to go to Horton's Spring Open house.
She knew I was having a rough time.
She came over and off we went.  I've said it many times before, when times are tough it's nice to have someone you can turn to that helps you smile...and laugh....and laugh-we did!
These are some things I did not buy at Hortons, but do love.
One thing I did buy was an old journal and it had a little bit of writing in it.  It was hard to read but they were talking about a surrender in France and General Eisenhower.  Not President, but General.  I wish they would have written more.

As I was standing there discussing cute things with my friend I heard someone yell "Cindy!" I turned around to find Susie who has the blog "She Junks."  Go to her blog (on my side bar)
I had to quickly put on some lipstick before getting my picture taken with her!  Susie is the nicest person ever.  (Suze-can I call you Suze?  Hey I tried to comment on your blog and it wouldn't let me.  I'll try again tomorrow) Anyway, we had so much to talk about in such a short amount of time.  It's so fun meeting other bloggers don't you think?

So after my friend and I went to Horton's, we decided to go to Hobby Lobby, but first....we were going to run into Goodwill and find whatever we could in 15 minutes!

We decided to shop for Non-Florida trip souvenirs and not buy them! So the hunt was on....

All of these Florida souvenirs were for sale at the Good Will.
We ended up laughing at our souvenir hunt.  You should try it!
Ready...set...go....see how many you can find in 15 minutes!
I did buy a cool frog pitcher which I will get a picture of later.  I'm sitting down eating pie, drinking coffee, and watching a movie and blogging.  Shug will be home soon. I should not be eating pie this late.  (I'm thinking about having the other half of the half piece that I had)

When we got home...much later than planned, especially after going to Hobby Lobby and spending an hour at the GoodWill on a 15 minute hunt!  I knew we couldn't just go for 15 minutes.

SO, we got home and My Shug was outside and we heard them!!!  The Sandhill Cranes!!!!
Spring has definitely arrived.

And I started on my Non-Florida bag!  I think I am going to love it.
It'll be my summer fun bag!
And the ducks...ok I fibbed about the ducks.  I didn't buy them.  Teehee!
I was just kiddin' ya!
Calm down Mom!!!
Do you remember when I did buy them?  Oh My gosh it was so funny.

So, I was messaging with my girlfriend who went with me Saturday and I said to her,
"Thank you for being there for me and helping me through this.  And keeping me from saying mean things and hunting for non Florida trip souvenirs!!"
She replied,
"Yeah...blah blah...I have to get started on dishes and other chores. Have a good day!  It was kinda like I got to go to non Florida too!  I had a great trip!"

Blogettes...I was reading that in bed while Shug slept and I had to try to not shake the bed from laughing.  It was so funny.

But now, on a serious note.  My friend...who was in ICU, is now in Indianapolis on a ventilator and dialysis.  I am sad for her.  Please, please, please keep her in your prayers.  Pray for strength and for the doctors to figure out what is wrong with her.  They can't figure it out.  She is fighting for her life.  I had a three hour cup of coffee with her a month ago, and today she is fighting for her life.  We never know.....

Love,
Cindy Bee

Sometimes I just need to get the sad out

I was sitting here watching "You've Got Mail."
I love romantic comedies.  L.O.V.E. them.
My favorite
 And I was crocheting.....
And I thought....
Today is the first day of Spring! It's the Spring Equinox!
It's the day eggs should stand on end....I tried it....didn't work.
Brooms are supposed to stand on their own.  I tried it.  Mine didn't.
As a matter of fact, my broom handle is bent and I never noticed it before.
And I thought....it just figures.

And I thought....I'm so glad it's spring.....
I hope spring goes better than winter....
but it sure hasn't started out that way.
My eggs won't stand up.
My broom won't stand up.

I try to stay upbeat on this blog, and many times when I post anything bad/sad, I delete it, before too many see it.
It's not a very popular thing to post negative stuff on a blog.
  But here's the deal folks.

Sometimes I just need to get the sad out.

Here is a glimpse of my winter that I never told you about.
Six funeral viewings since November...
Yes SIX.
One lady was 54.
Liver cancer.
People say they come in threes.
They did....Twice.

And My Mother-in-law fell...a few weeks ago
she is 92.
It set her back a lot.
She is still living in a therapy place from the fall.
While living in the therapy place, she decided she wants to move from the assisted living facility (the one she fell at),  to the one she moved from a year ago.
So, I got it all set up for her to move back.
And she changed her mind.
So after giving her a couple of days to make sure, I canceled the move.
Then, she changed her mind again, and decided to move after all.
I RE-set it all up.
It take a lot of time and errands to set this stuff up.

These muffins.....are yummy. My Shug ate several of them today. (hmmm blurry picture.)
After he found out the trip was canceled.
Yup. I made them for a trip to Florida that I was to take.
We were leaving tomorrow.
I was packing last night, when I got a call.
Stop packing,  trip is off.
Lots of plans were made.
Canceled.

Oh...and my Shug...who just went on afternoons three weeks ago.
Got bumped back to days.
Yup, my Shug got bumped.
The end of this month he goes back on days.
Back to getting up at 4:30 in the morning....
going to bed at 8:30-9:00.
Back to dark circles under his eyes all the time.
And then, the straw...
you know the one.
It's the one that breaks the camel's back.
I got a call late this afternoon.
"Cindy, Did you know *a good friend*  is in ICU?
NO!
I know now.
She needs lots of prayers.
I cried.
I'm tired peeps.
Don't feel sorry for me.  I hate that.
I just need to vent.
To get the sad out.

So, I decided...
I'm starting my spring tomorrow.
Spring is my favorite season...and I'm not starting it out this way.
It's going to be better than winter.
It's going to be better than today!

And for now...right now....
I started making a crocheted bag that I was going to make on my Florida trip.
It'll be a Cindy bag.
 I'm not using a pattern.
Phhbbbttt....I don't need no stinking pattern (I hope!)
I'm eating dark chocolate.
I'm drinking beach house wine.
And I am going to count my blessings.
It's been a busy and fun week, amidst all the winter crap.
Tomorrow is another day.
I'll tell you all the good stuff that happened this week...another day.

In the meantime....
let's wish this beautiful young lady a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
My niece, Adrienne!

Born on the first day of Spring!
I hope it is as wonderful as she is.
And let me say...
HAPPY
SPRING!

Cindy Bee

PS.  Thank you Susie, for reminding me about Horton's.  I completely forgot.  I think I'll go.
And I think I'll buy me a boquet of tulips somewhere....
or maybe a pansy or two....
and maybe some ducks....
I'm celebrating Spring-tomorrow!

A Sunday morning chat, posted on Tuesday evening!

Sunday morning, I was awake, the sun was shining in our room, my Shug was trying to sleep, so I quietly got up and decided to blog.  By the time I downloaded pics from my camera, and phone, to my computer, and then downloaded some of them to my blog, my Shug was up and our day was started.  Here's the thing with him on afternoons.....I don't sit down in the evenings until it's late and I'm too tired to do anything...blog, crochet, whatev...peeps. I used to get up early in the morning and get on the computer.  I don't get up early anymore because we stay up late. I like his new hours, but I'm having a hard time figuring out when to blog.  So please forgive me.  I'm trying.  I'll adjust eventually and get caught up on my blog and reading yours.  We are still living in one room while we build our house-which is what we do during the day.
Our windows face East so the sun shines in and wakes us up!
So I thought I'd tell you about the FUN stuff I did last week or two.  Besides crochet, which always deserves a post of it's own.....
On Friday, I went to Nicki Winkles, The Vintage Farmhouse, new store with my friend, Teresa.  It was a preview and I got this small tablecloth which I think might have tatting around the edges.  Anyone out there tat?  I'm not sure if that's what it is or not.  I love it though.  I also got some wonderful smelling soap and some shells.  The plate came from Goodwill.
So did this little house lamp.  Fall
Summer (it has four different seasons/sides with lots of details)
Spring (I was going to use it as a house for a fairy garden)
Winter (but my Shug really liked it for a night light type lamp)
Cake plate cover.  I have lots of cake plates and I always buy covers when I see them.  You can use them for any food, not just cakes, and any plate.  They are especially nice if you have food outside.
This crazy metal fish!  I might hang it up out by Coral Belle!
I plan on putting this big bug out on a tree by Coral Belle. (I can't wait to decorate around her with fun stuff)

My hyacinths popped open - again!  They smell lovely!

On First Friday, I went to The Granny Bee's studio and spun with a friend of mine.

We were experimenting with plying.
I LOVE the yarn I made!

Lastly, I stopped by Mom & Dad's the other day....Mom's decorating her bush again!
Click here if you missed the story from last year.

I will leave you with this! One of my hives over the weekend!

Happy Bees!  Happy Bee Lady!

Crochet & K!!

 Hi everyone!
I haven't shared the last couple of weeks of crochet so here we go!  The most important thing first.
No, not this very groovy cake/pie carrier that I bought last fall at a store with booths of vintage stuff for sale.  It is very cool though don't you think?
The MOST IMPORTANT THING is this!
"K" is cancer free for 11 years!!!
(clap clap clap clap clap....whistle whistle.....wooohooooo!!!)
So, she has mentioned that her favorite cake is a carrot cake.  I got my Martha Stewart cake book out again, and made "K" a celebratory carrot cake!!!

And here is a recap of "K"s mystery crochet a long.

This is a mystery cal from "crochet crowd."  I don't know much about it, except that I'm glad I didn't do it!!!
Not that I don't like it.  I do.  It would require more thinking.....
and I'm already thinking too hard on how to sew this honeycomb bag together!
I finished weaving in all of the ends,
and I can't figure out how to stitch it together!  So, tomorrow at crochet group I'm going to see if we can figure it out together.  I'll show you all the wonky-ness of it tomorrow.
This is also "K"s blanket.  (She is an over-achiever!)  Eventually it will fit a King sized bed.
Debbie had a little set back with her rug.  The fabric store ran out of the bright pink color and hasn't gotten any new in again.  Hopefully, soon.  We love the rug.
In the meantime, she started a blanket with yarn from Attic 24's blog.  "K" and I are jealous.
And I'm still working on this blanket.  This old one that I started a few years ago, then changed colors.  I still like it.  Granny's get boring after awhile, and I'm itching to start something new.  Trying hard not to though.

On a side note, Spring is on it's way....the temps finally broke....and I planted more hyacinths!
