The Vintage Farmhouse sale

A little over a week ago, The Vintage Farmhouse had a garage sale. And if you are a blogger buddy and showed up at her sale, you got one of these lavender sachets' that she made! My friend and I went. It's such fun to meet Blogger friends. And you know what I did? I put my big ole' foot right in my mouth. Here's the way the conversation went,

First to help set the stage...

This guy is helping my friend and I load up the car (and before you give me heck for buying this furniture, I didn't. My friend refurbishes furniture)

Me: "He is so nice to help us load up the car."

Nicki (Vintage Farmhouse): mumbles to me "Well good, it's about time he did something worthwhile."

Me: "ooohhhhh"....not know what to say, thinking her husband and her are arguing.

Nicki: "He's my ex-husband."

aaawkward!

Me: "Oh yeah...I remember you writing about him....."

HIM: What??!!!? You've been writing about me?

Nicki: "A little bit."

Me: Looking horrified I'm sure...and thinking...oh crap...but saying, "I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have said that. She just wrote a little blurb."

...God help me.....I'm gonna shut up now and just shop.

So, there you have it...I must remember when I meet blogger friends, not to mention what they write about. For example, when you meet my Shug, if you do, you mustn't tell him that we loaded the Durango like a truck. It's simply not allowed.

But we were very careful. That candelabra is mine now! I think it'll be lovely on one of my porches at my new house.

This was the sale. Lots and lots of fun stuff. I didn't want to stop shopping but I had to. My friend had to be home by noon and it was an hour drive.

I just know I could have found more goodies.... and we had to put blinders on during the ride home because I think every neighborhood had a sale between her house and my house!

Nicki and Me. Oh and btw-that tiny tot terror she talks about. Well, she started to cry when we left. I really don't think she is a terror. Her kids were all adorable. Her chickens, however, had very bad manners. For some reason, my car door was left open, and the chickens started to get in my car! Have you ever? Chickens wanting to go bye bye!

Now this is my loot that I brought home...and I am telling you now, do not miss her garage sale next year folks. I got the deals.

I want to paint these white and put them on a shelf somewhere.

My Granny Bee friends are going to be jealous of what's in that blue box.

Digby Twist. Lots and lots of thread.

Funny thing...I never used to like red at all. I love it now.

Cute lamp for the foyer of my new house.

The candelabra. I need to get some dangly thingys for it.

This was a last minute purchase. I was in the car, saw them, and jumped out and bought them and jumped back in!

Some acrylic bobble type beads. I love crafty stuff, as you know. And when we move I am going to have a craft room.

I also got some drapes and material. The drapes I think I am using for material. I love it all. Thank you Nicki for a fun Saturday and I hope I'm forgiven!

Sailing on State Road 38

Last Friday, my sailing friend and I went....sailing! St Rd 38 was having garage sales from one town to another, with miles in between.

We stopped at several sales on the way there.

I wanted this.....but he wanted $250.00 for it as is, and it's broken! I was hoping this wasn't a sign of the way things were going to be that day.

Not to worry....and we weren't even on 38 yet!

Oh dear...this was after the first sale on 38.

This is Deb and this was her sale. She's counting what was our money and is now her money! Deb was having a lot of fun. You can tell she enjoys doing this kind of thing. After chatting with her a bit I found out she had a store, but closed it because of health issues, so keep her in your prayers please. Hmmm, what did I buy from Deb?

I bought some old Christmas garland. I like to decorate with old ornaments and do crafty stuff with it too.

I think I bought this pretty plate from her too. I'm getting rid of my platters, for pretty plates like this one.

And I bought this lamp. I think I bought something else, but can't remember what.

Off we go...I did not buy this tub, but I WANT it.

And the guy that had this tub has an 18 month old daughter and his wife is expecting triplets! And they did not use fertility drugs. His Mom is a twin and his wife is a twin. He refurbishes tubs like these for a living. You see folks, garage sailing is a social event as much as it is a good deal event.

After a couple more sales, we had to unload and reorganize.

Then, right after reorganizing we went to a sale and they had a car top carrier for sale!!!

SOLD!

Yeah we tied it to the car with wire ties. Hey it worked! No one had bungee cords for sale!

OMG I Want this sink for my kitchen. I could buy it and take it to the tub guy to refurbish. I LOVE IT!

So my friend is looking at it and says...what does the sticker say....hmmmm...."sssssoold. Sold." DANGIT!

We stopped at an herb farm and funny thing...they had two Adirondack chairs painted the exact color I've been thinking about painting two that we have. What do you think? I even had the paint chips with me!

I went to this herb farm for the last couple of years. The owner said, "I was wondering if the bee lady was going to come!"

Here are a few things I bought that day.

I want to cover this with some funky crochet yarn or material.

Thinking about going to Italy next year.

Now this...I think is a sign. I had this EXACT book when I was in 8th grade and taking guitar lessons. A couple of months ago I asked my Brother in law if he ever played his guitar. Nope, do I want to buy it? I've been thinking about it....do I have time? Probably not. But if I spent less time on the computer....maybe....
Look at the songs in the book.

FUN!

Here's one of the four sweaters I bought...might have to get one of these out today. I packed them to take to the new house. I also bought my Shug three shirts.

I love old unusual cookbooks like this one.

I did buy a couple of herb plants at the herb farm. Have you ever grown lemon verbena. Not to be confused with lemon balm. Lemon verbena is an annual here, lemon balm is like mint. You will never buy a plant more lemony scented than lemon verbena.

Buy one...you won't regret it. I rub my hands on it whenever I'm cutting onions or garlic.

I'm sure there were a few more goodies, but I need to get my day started. Have fun today.

Odds and Ends...

I'm trying to decide if I should get my hair cut, shoulder length, or leave it long an get a body perm. This is what it would sort of look like permed. I curled it with a curling iron to get it to look like this. Otherwise it is straighter than straight. Any ideas?

I'm tired of living like this....packing boxes, moving boxes, packing boxes, moving boxes. You get the idea, right?

Chrysler paid off their government loan yesterday.

I cannot leave food on the edge of the counter like this. The last time I left it on the table, I went in the other room to get something and when I came back my dinner was gone. And Winston was standing there looking at me with a chicken tender in his mouth.

We got a rainbow today.

This is what our sky has looked like off and on all day long.

And tonight on t.v., none of the regular scheduled programs are on,

because they keep showing storm damage instead.

I cannot blog without pictures. I just can't.

I made thise banana chocolate muffins yesterday and they are yummy. Make them.

I got the recipe from this book. I've been moving books from one basement to the other a little at a time. I have a bunch of cookbooks. Bed and Breakfasts always have the best food, so anytime you see a B&B cookbook, buy it. You won't be sorry.

Here's the recipe.

I got this new magazine at the grocery store.

I'm going to bed now to read it.

Good night.
