The last of the GB weekend.

You know how you're having such a wonderful time, such as I was at the Granny Bee weekend, and you get a bonus that just makes the weekend all that extra special. Well here are a couple of those bonuses that I'd like to share with you all.

This is the Seiberling mansion. It also happens to be where my "shug" and I got married. That's shug as in sugar - so would it be spelled sug? There was some sleeper movie we saw one time where the wife called her husband shuuuug, with that long southern drawl, so I started calling my man that. OK back to the weekend. As I told you, we were in the Olde Silk Stocking area and you can see the mansion from where Beth and Liz live. Well, that evening there was a wedding, that our Queen Bee was invited to, but we were not. So we watched it from the sidewalk, in front of their house. (I hope all of their wedding pictures don't have us in the background - yikes) I could not help but start snapping pictures as the Cinderella coach carried the bride to the mansion to greet her groom. I've got goosebumps as I type. The other 'bees' were making fun of me because I thought I was going to cry. I am a romantic and folks, does it get more romantic than this?

Now this is my shug. He was coming to see me, and I had just finished braggin' on him that he was such a nice guy. When he got out of his truck, he saw these ladies in distress, and he walked right over to them and started helping. As he walked away one of the ladies said, "what a gentleman." When's the last time you heard the word gentleman?

And this....well this is a bluppy rug that has since been all unraveled :( But the bonus was, Brenda (don't know her last name) taught us how to crochet rugs. Something we can use our extra material stash up on! I love how it looked starting out, and I really liked it when I added the blue, but when it was all blue, then I started adding red, it got to bluppy. Now what is bluppy you say? Well bluppy, is a 'crochet' term that our Queen Bee, Beth, taught us that weekend. I suppose it could be used for knitting too. She even spelled it for us. b l u p p y - pronounced bl-uh-py. Not bl-oop-y. It's when it's all curly and bumpy and you just can't like it so you rip it out. {sigh} I've since started over and it's looking pretty good so far. I'll show it to you when I'm done.
Have a great day.

Cindy

  1. Looks like a fine weekend. I plan on posting about mine later this evening. There is that word Work, have to go there first. Had a good weekend, got some chores done and had a little fun too. Can you show us all how to crochet a rug?

  3. Hi Brenda,

Yes it was a fine weekend. It was actually the tail end of last weekend, not this one. I got a bit caught up this weekend, having an extra day and actually staying home for two days! I'm not good at the rug crocheting thing yet, so you'd be better off not learning from me. I'm just single crocheting with material instead of yarn. The sides are not smooth, but hey, it's a rug, right? We're gonna walk on it. It's not going to be perfect. Cindy

  4. Hi Robyn,

Yes it is a beautiful place to get married. We got married on New Year's Eve and they left their Christmas decorations up for us. It was very Victorian, lots of velveety bows and greenery and such, and I sure saved a lot of money not having to decorate! Cindy
