So, last Friday, January 6....twas a perfect kind of day. Remember I met friends for coffee on Thursday. Friday, I woke up to sunshine. Brilliant Sunshine! In January. Unless you live in Indiana you probably don't remember last year, lest you remember my whining. Last year it got cold and snowed in November and it didn't leave us until March. VERY unusual. We usually get a warm day here and there in the winter, but last year we did not. I love 8 beehives last year.
Last Friday was a gift.
Do you see anything unusual in this picture...
The window is open! I aired out the house. That's what happens when you get a 52 degree day in January. That's around 10C for you Celsius peeps. I open my windows every chance I get, even in the winter months, if it's summer weather!
I went to the farm. and check this out...
So far so good! Every hive is alive!!! (except for the one I lost earlier this year during the snowstorm)
Oh yeah - and on the way to the farm....
I stopped at a garage sale!!!! Just look what I got.
This thing...don't know what it was originally, but it's big and I want to shabby chic it a bit with some white paint and hang it on our new house living room wall. It's a long wall.
I got two of these room dividers. There is plexi-glass in those squares. I thought it would be great in my craft room. I can replace some of the plexi-glass with cork board or chalk board or just put pictures up on the glass...so many options.
This is for us, when we are living in the basement, however, my MIL is temporarily moving into an assisted living place and we are going to let her use it for a TV stand. I'll show you an after picture when it's done. My Shug is cleaning it up and doing some work on it.
And I got these two chairs. If you come to my house, you'll find chairs scattered to and fro, here and there, hither and yon...is yon a word? Anyway, I needed another chair for the table on my front porch The plan was to get four miss-matched chairs and paint them all a different color. I now have my fourth chair. The one on the left , I just like the rustic-ness of it.
I stuck my camera down in the hole, wondering if any minks are in there. If you are a regular reader of my blog, you would have remembered that a few weeks ago our neighbor lost about 25 chickens due to minks.
I didn't see anything.
Then we headed to the other side of the pond, the back of the property.

After my Shug and I unloaded the car, he asked if I wanted to go for a walk and check out the beaver dam. Sure...even though it was a muddy mess I was prepared.

Cindy, So good to have people count their blessing. Just when I feel my worst, I can look around and truly know I am blessed. Smiles to you, Susie(She Junks)
ReplyDeleteI love a good walk in the countryside usually with my old dog, Pip. We've been having an unusually warm winter (5-10 centigrade most days), so I've been getting out a lot and it feels good! It's going to get colder, they say, so I'm making the most of it while I can!
ReplyDeleteSo glad your bees are doing well and that you're re-discovering your mojo!!
That was so enjoyable to read on this cold windy snowy morning!
