Birthday Fun

On my birthday I was sitting at a stop light and all of a sudden the police stopped traffic in all directions. There were several police cars and motorcycle cops. I was sitting there wondering what in the world was going on! Then came the cars....classic cars. I grabbed my camera and started snapping pics. We are called the "City of Firsts." The first automobile was made right here in our town. And the street I was on, was reported to be the same street that Elwood Haynes drove the first American automobile down in 1894! How cool. So they have a classic car parade every year on that same street to get the Haynes-Apperson festival started, and I happened to have a very good 'seat' for the classic car parade!

Rather than bore you with all of the pics I took of the classic cars, I will show you my second favorite, since I didn't get a pic of my first favorite.

Love it. First favorite looked a lot like this but was a RED truck.

This is Christy and Rebecca. That evening, for my b-day, a bunch of us went to the Haynes-Apperson festival to see the Mummies. If you've never seen them, you must. They are fun. My Sister came up to me before the festival started and said Christy wants to show you some jewelry.

okaayyy....and they start walking across the street to this pub. Jewelry in a pub? No. They were buying me a birthday shot. No jewelry shopping whatsoever.

"Ok, but just one because I've given up alcohol, latte's, and junk food."

"WHAT?"

"yup"

"Only on special occasions from now on."

I reckon my b-day was special occasion enough.

My friend RJ and T-Bone showed up, and for some reason, people kept coming up to her and standing....like....right in front of her....like she wasn't even there! Weird. I have to tell you this festival brings out the worst of the worst in our town. It just does.

Apparently the Mummies are made up of three original/permanent singers and the rest are from very popular bands. They dress up like this so they will not be recognized.

It was a fun night.

After the concert, we headed to a local Mexican restaurant for margaritas.
