Easter Morning

About a month ago, my friend Mandy told me she thinks I shouldn't have Easter dinner this year. I've got too much on my plate. I agreed, but it's tradition. So, I called Mom and I compromised. If Mom would have the dinner, I would have dessert and the egg hunt, on our land in the country. There are 13 of us, and with the in-law parents there is a possibility of 16. If the boys I watched were in town, there would have been 20. And every now and then a cousin or two shows up. I usually have to rearrange the furniture and find room for the tables and chairs before I even begin the baking and such.

But still....on Tuesday....with so much going on, I started stressing. So when I realized that Tuesday morning was the monthly Panera meeting with people I used to work with at Purdue, I brought the eggs with me. They're like family and I needed help.

We found some candy and three lottery tickets that did not get scratched off last year!

No winners.

As you saw in a previous post, I set up gnomes in the woods. My Shug mowed a trail through the woods and I followed behind and chopped down the sticky plants. Then I hung up all the magic necklaces!!!

And sprinkled a few faeries throughout...

And a few mushrooms, since we aren't finding any this year.

I want this to be a magical place for my nieces. Kids don't play outside much anymore. My brother and I were talking yesterday about that very thing. We used to play outside from morning until we got called inside.

I want our place to be a safe and fun place for everyone to visit. I feel blessed to have such a property and I want to share it.

And sometimes it's the little things we remember....like the egg hunts at Aunt Cindy's and Uncle Dave's...and the magical woods. They'll grow up and think...that woods sure was big when I was a kid. It doesn't seem that big now.

But back to now. I went out to the basement this week and my Shug and I cleaned up all the chairs we could find and set up some tables and covered them with table cloths.

I always buy linens at garage sales and I love to layer them on the table. Layering is my style! I do it with clothes too!

I had one of these candy stands years ago. I don't know what happened to it, but I found one at a garage sale for 50 cents so I bought it.

I made some no-bake cookies and shaped them into nests that I'll fill with jelly beans and set them on the flower petals.

The woods is ready, the tables are ready, the desserts are ready,

the eggs are waiting to be hidden...

I even baked a ham to help feed the hordes! But guess what folks. I'm not ready!!! So chat with ya later.....

One more thing before I go...Remember..

HE has risen.

HE is alive.

Happy Easter

  3. We had an egg hunt today also. I made a lunch and hubs and oldest daughter (she has no children) hid about 400 eggs. Eight children hunted along with many adult helpers. I think there were 19 total. Fun was had by all. I hope you all had as much fun! Happy Easter Cindy Bee!
