Nature's peace

We had snow last night.
Not a lot of snow.  But the wind was howling outside our one room living area.  The snow was swirling outside our patio area.
I couldn't sleep.  Woke up at 3:30 and I got out of bed several times to look out the window.  I felt so alone.  No neighbors across the street.  No Internet service.  We lost power twice, and the wind.....whooOOooOOOoooOo........
Now, during the day...it looks so peaceful outside.
So quiet.
I wonder how my bees are doing.
My Shug wonders if the deer are in our valley, staying warm.
Somehow...for some reason...I can always find peace.... in nature.
What about you?  Where do you find your peace?

  1. Cindy, I swear I was up looking out the windows too. We did not lose power for once. I was going to tipton school this morning for my duaghter's class breakfast. There was a two hour delay that turned into the school closing for the holiday already. I worry for everyone when the roads are bad and the weather's so cold. I will be making some veggie soup here..that is comforting. Merry Christmas to you and all your loved ones. xoxo,Susie

  2. The wind totally woke me up a few times last night with rain not snow.
I love snow, it's always so quiet....before the snow throwers start!

I love nature but my favorite place to find peace is my home....mostly the bedroom...I just feel so cozy and comfortable there.

  4. I love countryside strolls, on a sunny day that isn't blistering hot, with birdies chirping and moths and butterflies whirring about, and nettles and buttercups all mixed in together on the roadside.

I also find lots of peace in my home, when I am in a homemaker mood.

    Merry Christmas

  5. I find the most wonderful sense of peace up at Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains, especially during early spring when the Daffodils bloom there. You drive around the loop and in the middle of nowhere, you see a square line drawn out by the Daffodils. Immediately, you know one of the settlers' homes once stood there. You can almost feel their presence. And then, it seems like all the wildlife begin to appear in the same area, as if they just... know. Ya' know?! Hope y'all stay safe and warm! Merry Christmas!

  6. Last night I found peace at midnight walking on the snow... in the peaceful night, hearing the snow crunch while walking the dogs. Such a inner peace.

  7. It was bad we lost power to but I lost count after #6 it would go off and literally 2 min later come back on but at one point it was off for about an hour. I was exhausted went to bed a midnight got up at 3 and never fell back asleep and then worked a 12 hour day and got home from work after midnight. So right now my idea of peace is on the sofa in the quiet with a candle burning and a cup of coffee or hot tea. I've heard from a lot of people that it just feels different this year the holidays I think finding peace is sometimes hard this time of year and really it should be so easy.
