Ripple Coastal Crochet Blanket

I've been working on this blanket for a few months now.
And all this time, it's the first time I've laid it out!
It's as wide as our queen size bed!

It is a kit I got from Wool Warehouse.  Several of us ordered them through Attic 24's blog.
And it's the coastal ripple blanket.
I can't wait to snuggle up in it!

I'm connecting with Annemarie's Blog   If you want to see some very creative blogs, click here and go look at what everyone is doing!  Very crafty people!

EDITED
I had a question about the size of my blanket and how many chains I hooked.
The original pattern calls for 213 chains, which is what I did.  However, Lucy (who designed the afghan) uses a 4mm hook.  I use a 4.5mm hook.  So that makes up for some of the difference.  And I probably crochet a little looser than she does.
My blanket is a little over 5 feet wide (5.25) and hers is a little under 4 feet wide (3' 11.25")  She posts in cm.
Her afghan fits a single size bed, but she doesn't say if it goes down along the side of the bed.  My blanket fits to top of a queen bed, but does NOT go down the sides.  Maybe an inch or two but that's it.
Now, having said all of that.  There is a good chance that I will run out of yarn in this kit before I finish the blanket!  I will either stop and call it finished, or order another kit to finish it.  I'll decide when I get closer to that point!  It'll probably depend on how tired I am of the project by then.
Click here if you'd like to see the original post by Lucy on this afghan.  It's pretty cool!

  1. It's gorgeous, I want to make a queens size bedspread, can you tell me how many foundation chains you started with? Thanks

    1. Hi Anne,
Apparently I did that link-up wrong but it looks like you found your way here! I thought I crocheted the number of chains that the instructions called for, which I think were over 200, but I better count to be sure. I’ll get back with you on this. Be patient! I’ll do it tomorrow when I hope and pray we have some sunlight. I need it!

  2. Love the colours, that's a wide blanket, must take ages to do a row, I have not made anything that big so far.

    1. It really doesn’t take that long. Of course, if I paid attention instead of talking (during crochet group) or watching tv it would go faster. But that’s the reason I do repetitive stitches. To give my hands something to do while I sit!

  4. Wow, such pretty colors. I've tried making Afghanis for our king sized bread and usually end up with a queen size. S o much yarn.

  5. Very pretty. I know how much work goes into crocheting a piece like that so I'm impressed with your handiwork.

  6. Wow, I really like your blanket Cindy. I was thinking of making a coastal blanket at some point but for now I'm enjoying knitting socks and a few other crochet projects. Trying not to keep starting other things but finishing none. I'm happy with Attic 24 Moorland blanket that I've now finished. Cathy x
