Poncho Tah Dah!

I've been trying to share this for a couple of days now.  I've had two 11 year olds living with us in our basement room while they are on fall break.  The "year around school system" is hard for parents when they both work.  I've also had a lot of other things going on, including a tooth ache!  I go to an endodontist today.  I think that's the correct way to spell it.  I've never even heard that term before...but I hope it's nothing serious.  Ugh.

So, this poncho...... I love it.  But I have to tell you....I started over THREE TIMES!  I kept crocheting too long of a chain.  The beginning chain measured OK, but when I'd get a few rows crocheted, it would be too long.  I'd rip it out and start again.  I don't know if it was the yarn or maybe just make it a bit smaller than the pattern calls.  The pattern is free on ravelry and it's called the Customizable Poncho Pattern.
I used chunky yarn, but I think there are a lot of different yarns you could use.  And it's a very simple pattern.
You can work on it and watch TV at the same time!  You just chain the first row, of course, half double the second row, then double crochet from that point on until you make a big rectangle.  It would be simple to change the pattern to a knit poncho too.
You also need to let your precious pet enjoy the poncho with you because, well, they are just too cute to say no to!
I really like the poncho.  I do not like this picture of me....
but LOVE the poncho and the pattern.  I might have made it a bit too long, but I still like it. The original pattern calls for buttons, and I had some on this, but I didn't like them.  I thought about maybe a big crocheted flower, or just leaving it as is.
Now I'm working on some WIP's that I discovered while cleaning out the craft room.

  4. Cindy, I think you did a fine job. I don't know how you could stand anything with a tooth ache...I am a big chicken with my teeth and I just keep having problems too. I wish you good luck my friend. xoxo,Susie
