TA DAH!

Today was mostly an inside day for me.
And I'm gonna tell you something right now.
I AM OVER THIS SNOW.
O.V.E.R. and
D.O.N.E.
 Have you ever made dumplings?
I think I have one other time...until today.  My Shug was wanting some chicken and dumplings.

 I wanted to sew.
I have some material just begging to be made into a bag...but first, I am finishing something.
Something I started a long time ago.
Raise your hand if you made a resolution this year to finish, UNfinished projects!
I actually made an attempt to finish this once,

But I was disappointed because it hung weird.  It's a bag and the bottom hung way low.  It looked awful.  I wasn't even going to bother.  But after sewing all of these grannies...14 in all....and stitching it all together and adding a few borders, I just had to try.
So I sewed a lining in it, which helped.

Then I put plastic canvas in a sleeve of linen that matched the lining,
and voila!  It hangs pretty good!

 I LIKE IT!

So I reckon this is a ta dah post!

And...commercial here....we are having Wool Scrap Saturday, this Saturday, the 25th at Groovy Girl Yarn from 11:00 - 4:00.  It's $5.00 and all you do is show up ( with $5.00) and you can make one of these cupcakes!

  1. I make a type of dumpling called a 'rivvel'. You mix flour, eggs, salt and parsley with a fork until it resembles big crumbs then drop it by the fork-full in boiling chicken broth. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about a half hour. Easy peasy!
    Btw, I love your bag.

    1. Hi Jacque,

I know there are a lot of different dumpling recipes. I decided to make the one that my MIL used to make all the time. Really just big ole' bunches of dough! Thanks, about the bag.

  2. British dumplings don't look like that. They are a bit smaller than a baseball, and stick your ribs together!
I'm done with snow too. I cleared the snow in a white out yesterday...roll on spring!

    1. Hmmm, those British dumplings sound yummy. I might have to try them sometime.
We are getting another snow tonight, 1-4 inches. I decided I am not posting anymore pictures of snow. I went to the grocery store and while there, bought some hyacinth and tulip in potted pots. I'm thinking Spring REAL hard!

  3. Love the bag and the circle pattern in the granny squares. I made a bag out of an old t-shirt that was too big, too. I probably should dig it out and see what I can do with it.

    1. Try putting some hard plastic, or plastic canvas in the bottom of it and see if that helps. I also think a stiffer material as a lining helps. Good luck.

    1. Well, let's see, I think I've been playing around with making this bag for almost two years. Its time I got it finished don't you think! I am really trying hard to not start another project for me, until I get some control over unfinished ones. My attention span is short too. Seems shorter with menopause!

  5. Hi Cindy . . . great solution to your bag bottom problem.
I think that you bag is gorgeous. Now, if I where near you I would most certainly show up to make a cupcake (so cute) and to have a chance to meet you in person. Come on over . . . I'm having another Give-A-Way :)

    1. Yes Connie if we lived closer together I think we'd have a lot of crafting fun together. And you could teach me a thing or two on my guitar I'm sure. I can't believe you are having another give-a-way. Everyone go on over to see Connie and sign up!

  6. Love the bag, Cindy! I always think a lining and something in the base to give it shape are a must for a woollen bag. Amazing the difference it makes!

    1. I agree Fiona. I always try to put a lining in my bags made out of yarn, because they stretch too much if I don't.

  8. Well, I'm with Shug. Some chicken and dumplins would be really good on these cold days. Got a good recipe? You're being busy and productive on these stay inside days. Hope the weather breaks soon for everybody.
