Happy Birthday to ME....still!

Crikey Peeps!  I am completely an exact week behind in blogging once again.  I use this blog as a diary of my life...it was the whole point of my blogging..I quit developing pictures a few years ago.  The blog was my solution to not printing pictures and scrapbooking.  I've been writing this post for a few days now...not that it's a great post, I've just been busy. And it seems the newer blog format and the newer computer take me way longer to do anything.
So here we go,  I'm on my birthday week, which was exactly one week ago today on Sunday.
And I am 55 now.

So, After lunch and such on Thursday, Vickie and I spent the afternoon at Groovy Girl Yarn.
Some of the girls there gave me a gift certificate for my birthday!

On Friday evening several of our family members went to Cool Creek Park to hear Endless Summer Band.  You might remember this band from a private party we went to last July.
This be the princcess of the family, my Sister.

Vickie made these yummy chocolate covered strawberries....
this one was my favorite, with chocolate on the inside and out,

and Mom and Dad brought J. Edwards cupcakes, which are the most delicious ever, but I didn't get a picture.
When the sky looked like this, we quickly went through the Happy Birthday motions before packing up and leaving.
But not before I got a quick pic of me with the lead singer!
And during the Happy Birthday motions I got another gift card to Groovy Girl Yarn and some cash...so what's a girl to do, but go to the yarn store on Saturday and try to figure out what to do with those gift cards!

I needed consultation!  I wanted to buy yarn for something special.  We came up with the idea to make an afghan for the camper.  But I don't know what colors the camper is going to be....

I had color combos going on all over the place.

Lots of brights or blues in hues...

Groovy girl had me close my eyes....and she laid this out.  The gray adds a bit of a sweatshirt feel to the afghan.

  I love it!

On my actual birthday, last Sunday, it rained....all day long.  So I decided to get out a craft I've been wanting to play with for a long time.  I bought this noodle making machine at a garage sale for $5.00.  I decided to use it on polymer clay.  I actually have a noodle maker, to make noodles, that I've never used!

I rolled out the clay,

I used a straw to make perfect little circles,

And I made these.  You might remember me trying this a year or two ago, but they were a lot fatter.  I wanted to try it again.  So my rainy day birthday was the day.

Then I decided to play with the noodle maker...and I made these trees for the fairy garden,
Only I didn't like the way they looked in the fairy garden,
so I put them here.

Then I took this clay that I had blended a year or so ago,
and made a few beads.  Then decided to give bangle braceletes a try,

which I wore on Monday and they lasted about two hours before they broke!  Oh well...
I think I will end here....and tell you about this past week, in a day or two.

PS - Ok thanks Fiona for the info about Google Reader.  I do use it.  It's how I always read all of your blogs on my phone.  I didn't download it or configure it to begin with, and I don't know how to change it over. I tried changing it to Feedly, but it didn't work.  My solution, I used to only list blogs on my sidebar of people who actually commented on my blog, or I had contact with.  Now I've had to mix them up.  Oh well...it's the life of a non-teck-savvy person.

  1. Cindy ... You have to use your other pasta machine sometime to make real pasta. Great fun and you can eat the results (always a bonus!). Think Andy would have a fit if I tried to use ours for clay, but I love the things you made!

Looks like you had a great birthday apart from the rain!!

    1. My Mom and I got together one time and made noodles for chicken and noodles, but you are right, I need to do the food thing instead of the craft thing! You know, that is the third pasta machine I have bought at garage sales. Mom borrowed my first one so much I gave it to her and told her I'd borrow it if I ever needed it! Then I found another one, so I didn't need to borrow hers, but I never used it. Then I bought another one for clay only. Only paid $5.00 for each of them.

PS. I don't blame Andy, I wouldn't use it for clay, and for food. I've labeled my clay pasta machine so it will never be used for food!

    1. Well 55 sure didn't look good to me. I went on a serious make-over....got the hair cut (a few months ago) and am now trying very hard to lose weight. It's hard to take it off at my age. VERY HARD! I actually did have another week of birthday fun...getting ready to post about it! Feral is a great thinker. And good with words, but then so are you! ANd thank you for the birthday wishes.

    1. Thanks Jill. I try to have a good time as much as I can. Why not?

I"m glad you like the afghan colors. It takes me FOREVER to pick out colors of yarn. It's become somewhat of joke at the yarn store.

  5. Cindy, Leaving comments ..it's my computer and me...not yours. I have been noticing our carrier is dropping out once in awhile..so that maybe the real problem. Say if you and your Shug come to Horton's on Sat...go on over to the farmer's market, a block east. Ted will be set up with his woodworking crafts. You can meet him. Did you bake your clay things?? I have used that clay and I bake it. I wish I could do more crafts with it. The noodle maker really helsp to roll it out. Maybe I'll see you this Sat. xoxo,Susie

    1. Well glad it's not my computer for a change! Sorry, but I have not been impressed with any of this technology stuff lately! And I used to LOVE my Roofus (old computer)

I wish I could go on Saturday but we usually do a lot of work on the house on the weekends. My Shug will definitely not be with me. RIght now my cousin and I plan on going Friday. I just try very hard to be home on the weekends in case my SHug needs help or a part or something for the house.

I did bake my clay things. THe noodle make helped a lot. That clay is hard.
