Martha help!

I've been preparing for Easter.

I bought this wire thingy at the Winter Woolen Workshop this past year.  I'm not sure yet exactly what I'm going to do with it besides grow rye but I have ideas!
Not sure yet what I'm going to do with these either, but I have ideas!
We are going to Mom & Dad's for Easter dinner, then to our house (room) for dessert and the egg hunt.  We've also been stuffing eggs....lots of eggs with candy and treats.

We used to have the meal at our house too, but since we are living in one room right now, we have a progressive type dinner/dessert situation! Here is a good recipe for ham.  After years of getting up in the wee hours of the morning, we started cooking the ham the day before, let it cool, slice it,  refrigerate it until the next day.  Then heat it up, put it on a platter, and serve.

So anyway, I'm getting my "Martha" back right?  And I decided to make the ice cream look pretty.  So I got out my new molds I bought a couple of months ago.  I let the ice cream soften, and filled the molds.

I used a warm cake decorating tool to push the ice cream firmly into the molds.  (I dipped it in hot water first)  Kind of messy looking as the hot icing tool melted the ice cream quickly, but it was going into the freezer and when they pop out you won't see the messy part.
I took an ice cream break!
I then took to stuffing balloons with candy.

I melted chocolate.
And put it all over the egg-shaped balloons.
As I was dipping the chocolate...
and bouncing it off of the balloons....I found if you bounce the balloon, the chocolate will be smooth looking on the balloon....
I was visualizing our local choclatier (delicious bakery - J Edwards) finding out about these, and wanting to hire me to make them for Easter....

I was visualizing taking orders.  EW! - I'll have to do a better job of the air bubbles I see....
I put them in the fridge to make sure they were extra hard.  The plan is to pop the balloon and pull it out.  And wow everyone with hollowed out eggs with candy inside!
Only the balloons are stuck to the inside of the chocolate! I've made chocolate nests before and they never stuck.  I'm wondering if bouncing the candy inside the balloon, made the balloon stick to the chocolate too much.
 CRAP!

Back to the ice cream....

 AAUUGGGHHH!!!!
Then I got to thinking....we don't need chocolate ice cream anyway...we need vanilla.
I'm thinking about serving the chocolate eggs like this!!!!!!
What can I do?

  4. Hi Cindy,
Oh my, You are so brave making all those fancy Easter treats. Good luck on the chocolate balloons . . . they look very tricky :)

  5. Don't give up Cindy there's got to be a way. What if you cut the knot off the balloon and then fill it with a little hot water that you can swoosh around inside just to warm the balloon and slightly melt the inside of the chocolate. Obviously don't leave the water inside too long or in any one area too long. Hopefully you will then be able to empty out the water and pull out the balloon. You could then put the chocolate shells in the fridge briefly to reharden the chocolate. If you have to start again cover the balloons first with clingfilm before dipping in the melted chocolate - obviously making sure the clingfilm is as smooth as possible before covering. Have a really blessed happy Easter. Philippa xx
