We are having horrible flooding in our area, and my Shug and I are living in a basement, but we are up on a hill. I am so glad, or I'm sure we would be having basement flooding problems. So many people are...
This is the woods that we own across the road.
The entire woods is flooded.
We have never seen it this bad. And this is why we do not have structures on this part of the land.
It's called flood zone for a reason!
This is the road in front of our house, only it's not directly in front. It's about 1/4 mile West, to the four way stop. There is actually an orange barrel about where I am standing taking this picture. No one is allowed down the road right now.
This is our woods to the left.
A closer picture of the intersection.
Another view of the intersection. There is a bridge where that yellow sign is...it's covered. I saw a truck cross it and my Shug said "DO NOT EVER DO THAT. Bridges give way in waters like this..." Not to worry!
This is the reason I went
This is my neighbor's (around the corner by the stop sign) pasture. He has cows, chickens, and dogs. I was awake at 2:00 a.m.....wondering....how is Kenny's cows and chickens and dogs....why is our sump pump on, they told us we wouldn't need a sump pump this high on the hill....how are my parents...that field behind them always floods.....
Kenny's garden is all under water.
And here's the chicken coop. Their chickens are fine. As you can see the water came up to the chicken yard but he kept them in the coop and they are ok.
And lucky for me my bees are on high ground
Here are some pics of our pond.
It kind of looks like we have lake front property!
I have always wanted a beach house!
Now I have one!
Hey I'm planning on blogging again.
I needed a break from everything. You see, if I can't do something well, I don't like doing it at all. And lately, I've been pulled in every direction you can imagine. Things are getting under control again...to a degree...to a better degree than what it was anyway.
I will post a house update on the house construction blog. We completely finished inside the house and it is on the market! YAY! Pray for a quick sale.

Oh my dear Cindy I am so glad you are OK. That is a lot of water you have there. It is good that you live on a hill. Be safe and your shug is smart never cross a bridge like that in that weather. Take care and I am so glad you are back and safe.
ReplyDeleteI hope the sale is fast. Hug B
Well B...we are safe from the water, but right now we have no heat. My Shug is an electrician so he's working on the problem, but it's supposed to get to 31 tonight. Jeeeeesh.....

I'm not sure why but it wouldn't let me post my last comment....just want to say that you're in my prayers, both for the safety of you and your loved ones and that you get a quick sale.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jacque. We're doing ok right now....the water is starting to go down some and we are so fortunate it didn't get in our house.

We actually had a flood like this in 2003. THey said it was a 100 year flood. I think it was a type. More like a 10 year flood.

Oh my gosh! I am so glad you are safe. It looks just devastating!
ReplyDeleteIt is devastating for a lot of people. Homes and businesses.

Glad you are ok. Our house set up on a hill also so we do not get a wet basement either so far. Crazy weather. Glad to see you blogging!
ReplyDeleteAren't you glad you are on a hill? Me too!
