In my blog I plan to chat about nature, crafts, baking, gardening, beekeeping, family, and whatever else seems appropriate at the time. Sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Flamingo Hilton

Yes these Pink Flamingos are real!  Behind the Flamingo Hilton is a tropical paradise.
So I had to take my friend to see it.
Huge Koi.
Waterfalls abound

Palm trees everywhere

The lady asked me, "For a fun, free thing to do in Vegas, would you like to have your picture taken with these birds?"
The "free" word got me.  But WE could not take pictures.  They, took all the pictures and we had to BUY them!
I've decided the only thing that stays in Vegas is your money!  But we had fun visiting this tropical paradise.  And the birds were cute and funny.  One of them tried to take my earring off, and my barrette out of my hair, and the other one tried to take Teresa's hair out of her head!

This place really is a tropical paradise. There was a wedding going on back here.  You would never know you were in the middle of the city that never sleeps!
Oh and this place used to be one of Bugsy Siegal's hideouts back in the gangsta days.  He had escape routes all over the place, with a chauffeured limo ready and waiting at all times in the basement.  Someone made a comment that Vegas was built by the mafia!
Probably was...
Probably still is!

Paris - in Las Vegas!

I went to Las Vegas last week with my friend, Teresa.  We had a great time, and I thought I'd share some of the pictures I took with you.  Not to worry, I didn't take as many as I usually do!
I had to show you this crepe!  Ham, turkey, guyere' cheese, strawberry sauce, and powdered sugar.  YUM  We discovered quickly that we needed to split them though.
We stayed at the hotel Paris-Las Vegas.  It was stunning.

When we checked in they asked me if we wanted to upgrade to a room  with a view for $40 extra a night.  I said No.  Look at the view we got!  I didn't think it was bad at all.  If you have ever been to Vegas, you know you spend very little time in your room anyway.
This ferris wheel is interesting.  These pods hold 30-40 people.  They are party pods.  They even have one that they roll a bar into and you can go to the 'bar' if you don't have 40 people but just a friend or two.  It's not something I'd want to do but I found it interesting.

So, while I was in Vegas, I got this picture from my Shug.  My dog would not eat or drink while I was gone.  He refused to get out of his bed.  My Shug tried to take a picture to send me and it looks like Dixie was saying I am not smiling, I am not looking at the camera, I am mad at her for leaving me!  Finally, Shug gave him some steak, and chicken, and made him take a walk.

This is some of the other food in our hotel.

Looks just like I think Paris would look like with deli's and bakeries and cafe's.

This looks like it's outside, but it's all inside.

And of course, the Paris hotel must have an Eiffel Tower!   You can see it from just about everywhere we went.  Here it is from the top of one of the walkways they have that you go up to cross the street.

From the Bellagio across the street.
From the pool at our hotel.

Again from the pool

This is one of the arbors at the pool looking at our hotel.  I want my Shug to make me one of these arbors someday, only on a smaller scale!

We decided to go out and walk the strip for a bit and who is the first person we see but Elvis!
This guy looked like a statue.  When someone would walk by, he would move and scare them!  It was really kind of funny.

But this Elvis, kind of pitiful!

  Well that's enough for today.

I have a question for you.  Do you have a camera that you use to take blog pictures,
or do you just use your phone to take pics?

Random stuff throughout the week

We ate cinnamon rolls for breakfast twice this week. My Shug is on vacation.
Rhodes brand, in the freezer section, are great.
My Shug wants a 1957 Chevy in this bay of the pole barn.
But all he has is this card from me with a 1957 Chevy on it.  I sent it to him years ago and he saved it.  In the card I said I love him, and I'm going to miss him while I'm gone, and thanks for working so hard on the house.  I'm going to go get it (He has it on a bulletin board) and leave it for him again because I still love him, I'm going to be gone this week, and he's still working on the house (only it's a different house)!

The other day while my friend and I were going to the store, I stopped along the road to get a picture of the sky.  Can you see the dinosaur?
My MIL fell a couple of months ago.   She has been living in the therapy place for two months and she wanted out.  They were not giving her the therapy they said they would give her.....I'm not even going to go into all of the details right now except to just show you this picture of all of the meds they had her on.  I spent an incredible amount of time on the phone this week trying to get her out and moved into her new assisted living place.  We did get her out, against their wishes, and she is doing better, and she took herself off of half of these meds.  She is 92....she can do what she wants as far as I'm concerned.

I bought this bag.  It's to put magazines, crochet project, and munchies in while flying.
I went to a friends garage sale today and bought this wool afghan for $2!  I also bought the basket

and this mug, and tea bag holder.

I got into my hives yesterday.  Only two out of nine survived.  I'm sad about it, but I'm not buying more bees this year.  It's too expensive and they don't seem to live through the winter anymore.

Debbie came over the other night and helped me move a bunch of stuff out of a room.  We took several boxes to Goodwill and some empty boxes to recycle.  Then my Shug and I moved some stuff to the pole barn.  While moving, I found an album.  And in it I found some old pictures.  Including this one.
1991

Man do I ever wish I still looked like that!

Crochet group
Debbie has worked so hard on this blanket and loves it.
Thing is, she found out she is adding a stitch on every row.  She has been for about 2/3's of the blanket.
The question is, should she rip it out
or just keep going and stop adding stitches.

"K" finished this blanket which is incredible!  It was a mystery crochet a long.  We think it's beautiful, she isn't sure she likes it!
I'm still working on this blanket.  I took it to crochet but I didn't get to do much with it this week.  I am so glad I took it because another group of yarnies at the coffee shop gave me a great idea on how to piece it together.  I was concerned because I was running out of yarn and don't really want to order any more.

Lots of Attic 24 yarn in the coffee shop crochet groups.
I'm down to the last of my yarn in the blanket that I was tearing out to do the one above.
Debbie is tearing out a few rows...then she realized the big mistake.....
"K" started an Attic 24 pack of yarn this past week too.  I'm trying to force myself to finish mine before I start another one.

I baked Morning Glory Muffins today for my trip.  I'm going with my friend Teresa to Las Vegas on Monday.
That's my week in review.  What about you?  How was your week?  I will say I am ready to get away and relax for awhile.  I hate to fly, but after I get there I'll relax.

Did you find the dinosaur?

See ya in a week!
