Parties at the yarn store

So...on Friday, our crochet group had an impromptu birthday party on the Groovy Girl.  I made some cupcakes and brought the icing and a candle..we all brought some little gifts and food.

And we had a good time honoring our local Yarn store owner.  But since Local Yarn store owner doesn't like her picture plastered all over the place, (she's modest like that!) I will tell you about the super bowl party instead.  Because I realized that I forgot to blog about it.
There were a lot of people in the yarn shop that day.  That's my Mom, in the red vest.  I was showing her how to crochet a circle.  She did a great job.  You know, once you've mastered the circle, you can make hats and bags and all kinds of stuff.  Just sayin'.

And this is my cousin Vickie who comes waltzing in with her "Stitches and Scones" bag!  GASP!  I said, "OH NO YOU DIDUNT BRING THAT BAG!"  She innocently states that it's the only bag she has, which I do not believe!  (for you out of towners, Stitches and Scones is a yarn store about 40 minutes from here that many of us used to visit because it was the closest to our town that carried nice yarn.  But it closed...and it appears a lot of people want our Groovy Girl to do things like S&S did.....ahem......anyway)

"K" showed us what our yarn bag is supposed to look like now.
And then Vickie picked out some yarn and said, "Here Cindy will you wind this for me."  What the "H" Vickie?!?!!  She took all the little pieces of yarn off the skein.  You know....the pieces that keeps it from getting all tangled up.  The pieces you cut AFTER you have it on the winder.

Anyway, finally after getting settled I started working on my hat.  I had the darndest time with that darker pink yarn though.  So I got help and this hat is finished!

 LOVE IT!
I missed the Valentines Day party because I was busy working on our house in town, getting it ready to sell.  See the house blog for details on the house.

UPDATES:  My forsythia that I'm forcing is sprouting!  The dogwood twigs are not.  I'm sure it's like anything, some things do better than others.

Kristi Update - keep her in your prayers.  She is still sedated and still on a ventilator.  She is breathing 50% on her own, but they have to leave her sedated for now.  I can't tell you how much we miss her.

After this weekend, I am joining Melissa from Day to Day blog.  I'm going to join them in their ripple along and finish my ripple blanket.  It will be the only crochet item I work on after the Winter Woolen Workshop...until it's finished.  I'm serious....I am......

  2. Just started following your blog today. I see you live in Indiana. So do I. In Porter, Porter County by the Indiana Dunes State Park and Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. If you don't mind, can I ask where you live at in Indiana? I like all the stuff on your blog, I like to crochet, quilt, garden and decorate my Duneland Cottage. :) Sue

    1. Hi Susan,
Thanks for following my blog. I will admit, right now I'm busier than ever trying to get my house in town painted, cleaned and ready to sell. It's overwhelming. So please forgive me if I'm not as attentive as I usually am, or try to be.
I live in Kokomo, IN. A few hours away. I LOVE your area. My Shug and I have vacationed up there...then went on and stayed in Suttons Bay, MI. Then went on to the the Petosky area and Mackinac Island.... but the Lakeshore is beautiful. And probably cold right now!

    1. Thank you Julie. She is NOT what you think of when you think of someone having a heart attack. She worked out almost daily. I miss her laugh. I miss her. I want to cry right now thinking of her. She did smoke. If you smoke. STOP. I mean it. NOW STOP.
