Dancing in the Moonlight

A few weeks ago I was perusing a blog and I saw the cutest painting.  It was an itty bitty painting.  It reminded me of that song "Dancing in the Moonlight".  So romantic.
I don't even remember how I found this blog, or maybe she found me first, who knows!
But I love Melody Lorraine's blog.  Click here and check it out.
It was during the time I was really busy and stressed,
commenting little, not blogging at all, but still perusing blogs.
Anyway, I wanted that picture, so I asked her if it was for sale.
After e-maling back and forth, I sent her a check and I got this in the mail yesterday.
First of all, check out the outside of the envelope...above...with a flower and a honey bee on it.  Caauuute!
Who wouldn't be all excited to get a package like that in the mail!

And look at all of these goodies inside! I only ordered a painting and I got all of this!!

This bookmark is adorable!  I love this style...reminds me of Beatrix Potter!
This is a handmade card and she took the time to write a note inside.  When she is famous...I'll have a handwritten note!
When I sent her the check for the painting, I quickly enclosed it in an envelope along with an old ledger book I had that was falling apart and popped it in the mail.  That's it.  No cute notes or little odds and ends.  Sorry Melody.
I knew she liked old ledger papers and she had an old ledger book from her grandmother.  My sale was going to be the first one she wrote in the ledger book!

Would you just look what she made out of the ledger paper.  It's actually long. You can see a better picture of how long it is in the photo above.  I just can't get a good pic of it with my little point and shoot camera.

It's actually twice as long as this...it folds out.

This little painting is adorable.  I am going to frame all of this stuff!

There were also these cute little stickers enclosed!

And here we go! The reason for this post....you know how you just see something and you just love it instantly.

Me and my Shug dancing in the moonlight on our new property.

 Love it!

PS - Note to the Vintage Folk Painter, I think you and her look like you have a lot in common.  Different style of painting I think, but a like for some of the same artists.

PPS - I noticed where Mel from Day to Day blog posted the final ripple a long post.  But I just got this one finished, so I'll post my ripple along next, in a couple of days.  Please check back for ripple progress.  It's coming along.

Artsy Stuff in Brown County

So much going on this week, and I know I missed Ripple Tuesday....Winston was more important....anyway, I want to tell you one more thing about Brown County, Indiana.  Nashville, Indiana started out as an Artists Colony, and it is still a very artsy place.  This "tree" is along the sidewalk...made out of license plates.  Art is different for everyone.
You see doors with hand forged hardware.
We spent a couple of hours listening to these guys play guitar and sing.  They played a lot of 70's music so we really enjoyed it.
And if you're wondering what this guy is doing....
He uses a chainsaw to carve things out of trees.  Like this life sized horse,
and this bear.
And this bear reminded me of Buttons.  She keeps going into "the bush" and there are bears in there!  She hears them!  Making lots of noise....rustling trees and such.
And I keep telling her to get outta there.  She reassures me that she'd never go in if it was anything but a black bear.  That they only have black bears there!  What?!?!!  I don't care what color that bear is, girl, you run!
This is why!!!

Art at the WWW

Stuff I loved but didn't buy...This book.

Actually, there was another book there, a scrapbook, that was VERY old. It even had a newspaper article of Tennyson's death. Old post cards, etc. Only 20 bills, and I didn't buy it. I also didn't get a picture of it. Bummer.

These pincushions were adorable. I loved them. Angela, from The Country Cellar made them.

And this purse......L.O.V.E. it.

That's the front.

This is the back.

Made my Grandma Peden's Porch.
The absolute only reason I didn't buy this stuff is because I have no idea where I'd put it. I have lots of pin cushions, papers, purses, etc. And we are trying to move. And I am trying to have less stuff, not more. But I really liked it all. Especially the purse, but I just bought one with Christmas money back in December.

Now this stuff is art on display.

stained glass

oil? painting

Veiner-schneitzel (ok not really - but it's schnetters something or another)

Rug Hooking

And this is what I did buy.

This old box. I thought I could actually use it for storing small items in that I take with me on trips and such. Like crochet hooks, needles, thread, etc.

It's wooden.

On the back it says 2 pr. Men's Hose, size 10

Side view

Inside...some kid got a hold of some crayons at some point in life and scribbled on it.

The outside

I bought some wool. This booth had wool remnants for $5.00 a basket full and it included the basket.

And this wool....I buy from them every year. I like to use it for bags, pillows, applique'...fun stuff. I'm not a rug hooker, but it's good wool for rug hooking.

I bought this from them when they attended a granny bee meeting and had some for sale.

And here is a couple of previous years purchases.

And I bought this on Saturday morning. The lady got it at the goodwill store in her town and brought it with her. It was only 12 bills...how could I pass it up.
