Date Night!

On Saturday my Shug and I went on a date!
Just the two of us!!!
We went to Monticello, which is about an hour from our house and went on the Madam Carroll boat.
I love nautical bunting!

They say it's the largest boat in Indiana. There are two decks.  The inside deck has a bar and the upper/outside deck has a snack bar.  Lucky for us they have an inside deck because it POURED RAIN right after we got on the boat!
Oh...and I ran into one of my cousins there that I haven't seen in a few years!
The inside deck holds 220 people!  That's pretty big!  And btw this is the first time I've ever been on this boat and I have lived in Indiana my whole life.  Ridiculous.

Starboard
 Port

(I'm kidding.  Those are the only two boat terms I could think of!  I do know Port wine, but not where Port is on a boat, except at the bar!)
So these pictures show one end, and the other!

And they had a band!  I don't know if you remember Henry Lee Summer.  He was very popular in the 80s and right as he was going national, he got into some trouble, with drugs.  So sad.  I read some of his interviews and he said when he was rehabbing, the people who sold to him would put drugs in his mailbox or throw them in his yard because they wanted him hooked again so they could get his money.  Anyway, he's had a rough road, but peeps he can still sing.  And sing he did.  He started at 8:30 and didn't stop until 11:00.  I thought he was done.  But he came back out at 11:30 and when the boat docked at 12:30, he was still singing!  AND his voice is still the same!  I LOVED IT!  A lot of 70's and 80's music which was so fun to dance to.  I woke up with leg cramps!  LOL!

My cousin and I were trying to get a selfie with him, only he was busy singing so he didn't know!

He's coming back to the Madam Carroll on October 7 and we want to go and celebrate my Shug's 60th birthday!

Have a listen to his music.  Give him a chance.

PS - today's habit (from Day Designer - blog listed to the right) is to meditate or read devotionals OUT OF A BOOK.  And to make notes in the margins!

  1. Cindy, I love Henry Lee Summer. The song, "Just Another Day"..was my anthem. IT's so true we do give up dreams for security. I hated that he got into drugs and it ruined his big career. Blessings to you and Shug. xoxo, Susie
