Week before Christmas stuff....

With Christmas coming on so quickly, and entertaining time here, my fridge decided to go on the fritz...as did my Bunn coffee pot. Luckily the Keurig still works...at the mo anyway.  And my Shug and I have been looking for a fridge for quite some time, as we could hear it cracking and popping in the night.  We finally found one.  We didn't want a huge fridge for our basement room. And we didn't want to pay huge money for one, as we will be buying another one, hopefully this year, for upstsairs.  And they delivered it on Sunday morning.  What a mess.
The fridge actually looks the same, except for the front.  It's smooth, like when I was a kid.  Now here's a funny story.  When I was a kid, Mom decided she wanted a brown fridge.  Well it was the 60's.  Brown was in.  So she painted the white refrigerator with brown paint!  Yup, with a can of paint and a paint brush.  When I was bored, I would stand by the fridge and peel the paint off of it.  Because that's what the paint did.  It peeled off.  But not all the way.  Kind of like nail polish when it looks like shit and you don't have any remover!  So when we got our smooth front fridge, I called Mom and asked her if she wanted to paint it!
(I know.  I said the "s" word.  But here's the thing.  It really did look like shit!)
I use my fridge for a family photo gallery.
I quickly got stuff all put away,  in time to leave for
one of my niece's dance recital.  And as I was snapping pictures on my phone, of the only dance she was in, my phone displayed something like, "you have no more photo storage.....blah, blah, and blah."  I'm trying to figure out why, on her only dance, when Vickie (my cousin) leans over and says, "Look!" as my niece was on top of a stack of dancers, which I did not get a picture of.  Why did I run out of storage space?
Because my nieces take TONS of pictures of themselves, when they are around, every time I do not have my phone in my possession.  Next time they will be going on Instagram!
I did get one of us after the recital.  I love her sparkly top.
I also thought it was very cool the way they fixed their hair!
On  Monday I got up and finished decorating.

I only drug out a couple of boxes and I did not take everything down the way I usually do.

I did not have time to do full blown decorating because I had these lovely ladies over for Breakfast Tuesday morning. One of them couldn't make it because her 92 year old Mother was having knee replacement surgery.
Quick!  Look in the background.  Our room is clean!  It's decorated!  It's ready for Christmas!  I'm spending the next few days getting ready for Christmas Eve.
Everything always works out.  It does.

My Advent Calendar gifts the last few days...

Starbucks Gift Card and mints.

and this.....

Christmas stuff

We finally got out tree decorated.  I'm trying to decide if My Shug put this up as an ornament because he thinks it will get him out of helping decorate the tree, or he really likes it.  Either way, I can't like it!

And the whole decorating thing wore Dixie Doodle completely out!
Here are my advent gifts for the last three days.  Ok, two days are shown.  I ate one of the days.  Peanut M&M's! YUM....a bee brush....and snot rags (tissues).
My heart skipped a beat or two when I saw this catalog in my mailbox!  I can't wait to have an evening to look through it.  Ahhhhh......summer......love it.  Oh and I saw three buzzing hives today!  It was in the high 40's

Have a good weekend.

Day Three

DAY THREE
Advent Tree gift....this very cute coaster.  If I had it on Day 1, maybe my drink wouldn't have sweated all over
the Christmas story page!
Isn't the coaster cute!  I LOVE SUMMER!  and flip flops!  So, Vickie sent me another copy of this to share with you, and I downloaded it, but do you think I can find out where it went?  No, I cannot.  I'll figure out at some point how to share it with you all.

TODAY
This is what I worked on today.  I actually started it a couple of weeks ago.  I think it would be fun to hang several different ones in a window by fishing string.  Anyway, I made this for Ornament Extravaganza, which is this Saturday and Sunday.
Ornament Extravaganza is an event that The Granny Bee stitchery group has and it gives everyone a chance to learn how to do something artsy with different fiber mediums. You can read about it HERE!  click on HERE.   Did you click on it?  With your cursor... do it.
Anyway, this is called Rug Punch.
I put my hand there to show you the size of it.
There are a lot of things going on Saturday in and around our town.  If you are out and about, stop by the Kokomo Art Association, downtown Kokomo, and make and take an ornament.

More THANKSGIVING pics...
My great niece. (above)
A selfie with my niece. (I have a lot of nieces and this one is beautiful inside and out)
So, after we finally said prayer, and we all ate dinner....
(whoa Cindy, you gonna eat all of that?)
We played Thanksgiving Bingo! Or maybe it was TURKEY LEG Bingo!!!
 Dad
The winner of each game got to wear a turkey leg headband,
and got a turkey leg prize package.  There was candy and a fortune cookie in each one.

I don't think Lorri (above) even played!
 YAY!  A happy winner!  Stacey
 Dylan won
Joey!
 Greg
My brother Duke looks all excited about wearing the turkey legs!
 Mom! (nice photo bomb Emily)
Then everyone started saying, "Hey Look, Jesus is here with pies."  I had no idea what they were talking about, until I turned around and saw my sweet nephew!  His hair is longer than mine!

The whole gang was finally there!

Advent Calendar, Shopping Treasures!, and Thanksgiving

DAY ONE - this is going to be so fun!
So this is what my Advent Calendar looks like underneath the large felt tree.  It's a shoe bag and 23 slots are stuffed with presents.  It's very obvious my cousin put a lot of time in this!
 See last post.

I've decided I'm going to share the Advent Calendar with you first every day, then go on to other stuff going on.  (Peeps it's hard to post every day!)

Day number One I got the Shoe Bag!

But I also got a very sweet card, and a story.  I choked up a bit when I opened it this morning.  And my Shug and my Mom both called asking what I got!
Thing is.....my iced tea glass sweated a bit and the story got wet and blurred some words.  She's going to print me a new page.
So that's day one of Advent.

YESTERDAY
After I took my nieces home, which I will blog about later....I decided to treat myself to a bit of shopping.  Some alone time!
I went to TJ Maxx, Starbucks, and Goodwill.
And I saw this at Goodwill.  This probably means nothing to most people, but this is a JC Penneys globe.  And my Sister and I would get one every year after Thanksgiving on Black Friday.  We collected them.  And last year when I went to get mine out, they were busted.  You see, it gets freezing cold in the rest of our house, where everything is stored.  I never thought about my globages breaking!  I was so upset about it last year, that I closed the storage box, and I haven't looked in it all year.   I'll be going through it this week.  But I have already decided I will be creative with the busted ones, and work on replacing them with "new" ones.  It will take years of garage sales and Goodwill shopping I'm sure!
I also got this at the Goodwill.  I have one already but it's plain.  I like this one better.  I have no idea it's original use, but I keep coffee filters in it.  I like that it has a lid.
And cha-ching!  I got a bag of these trees for 2.99!

Yesterday, Sunday, was a glorious 60 degree day and my poor little Dixie Doodle got stung by a yellow jacket.  Seriously....my life.  He's doing much better today, with lots of spoiling and snuggling.

THANKSGIVING
This is the second time in two months that our entire family, and then some, has been able to get together.
I got my Sister this bag because well....it's just funny and
Dad was a bit concerned about her, because he saw some special on tv about soccer mom's drinking too much wine.....something like that. (Nice photo bomb Taylor)
We told him not to worry!  Look who's drinking here!
Now it seems to have become tradition that we have duck for appetizer and Trent does a wonderful job of grilling it.
But this was hilarious!  I guess he wanted to prove how fresh the duck actually was!  I think it was Adrienne that bit down on this "shot" (I called it a bullet but apparently it's called shot) I'm glad she didn't break a tooth!
The next few photos are just of us all mingling, playing on phones, waiting for dinner.
 (Vinh, Teng, Chee, Dave)
Ty is showing off his two new teeth!  This would be our parent's Great Grandson.  My brother's grandchild.

 (Joey, Duke, Dad, Mom, Lorri)
 (Vinh, Adrienne, Dave)
 (Taylor, Sarah, Joey,Ty on floor)

 (Molly)
 (Vinh, Teng)

 (Trent, Lorri, Theresa)
Ok the turkey is ready, friends and family are gathered to say grace,
(Mom, Chee, Stacey)

and someone's cell phone is ringing!  It's our brothers!  WHAT?  He never has his cell phone, and when he does, it's never on!!!!  Everyone started laughing.

And this would be a good place to end this post, since it's becoming so long....
