Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

A couple of weeks ago I commented on a blog.
And truth be told, I completely forgot that I entered a give-away when I commented.
Then what to my wondering eyes did appear~an e-mail from Connie at Crafty Home Cottage!
 I WON I WON!
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner...is what we say.
Who knows why...
So I won a $25.00 Amazon gift card.  And I decided I was going to order some books.
No surprise there.....Books, yarn and purses....are my addictions.

I thought I'd show you all what I got with my gift card...ok I might have added a tiny bit with it.

Who doesn't love Tilda and all of her sweety cuteness?
I have a couple of her books, of which I've never made a thing out of, but someday........
I thought this dog was just adorable!  Who doesn't love a book with a cute dog in it?
Whale pillows?  maybe.....what?   I like them.  I think they'd be cute on a bed.
Popsicle pin cushion...which would also be cute as a tree ornament.
Now, I don't know about all of you, but I enjoy Molly Makes magazines so I thought this might be a good book to have.  I also enjoy hanging such items as birds in my tree that is inside our suite that we are living in.  My tree that I grew from a seed, that was from a fruit that someone picked from a tree several years ago in Charleston, SC.

You are probably wondernng what this afghan has to do with birds....Look closely.
 Bird grannies!
 Owl bunting...
 A french press wrap.
This pattern would also be cute somewhere other than on a french press, since I don't use mine. Maybe a pillow.  Does anyone out there use a french press?  As a matter of fact, what kind of coffee pots do you use?
And lastly, this book, which I'm gonna love.

This above doily isn't a doily at all, it's a rug!  Whodathunkit?
Another owl bunting.  I see owl bunting in my future.
Snowflake bunting.  Gasp!  I just got an idea  My MIL made several snowflakes for me one year, and I stick a rubber thingy on them with a hook and put them on my windows in the winter.  I'm thinking....turn them into bunting.  What do you think?
Russian nesting dolls!  Cute, they really nest.

Thank you Connie for the lovely gift.  This winter I do hope to have some time to enjoy some more crafting.

Right now, I'm still extracting honey and painting.  And trying to figure out what to do about some paint issues.  Help me decide please.... Pop on over to the house blog....what a mess.

Then, pop over and say Hi to Connie.  She is going through a rough time right now.  Her little Butchy dog was mauled by another dog and I feel so sorry for the poor little guy.

I'm Rockin' the VIntage Farmhouse Party with some Color

I decided to rock Nicki's party at the Vintage Farmhouse with some color!

And I don't know how to move that Creative Things Thursday button thingy, but I'm partying anyway.  You can click on the words, Nicki's party, and get to her blog and see all kinds of party goers.  Lots of those French Flea Market type people and their cool creative stuff.

I thought long and hard on it..... I decided to attend...but....
I'm not a white on white on white person.  I like it, but I'm more colorful.
But I can be creative.
And I can be creative oui'?
Anyway..I made this Summer FUN purse!

First, I spent most of the summer crocheting it!
I got part of the pattern from Lucy, at Attic 24.  I also made some amendments as I went along because I didn't want it as wide as hers.
And I added row after row of cotton yarn, which I love, called Weekend, that I got at Groovy Girl Yarn.

Then, I took a pillow case and cut a circle out of it to the size of the bottom of the bag.
I cut off the bottom of the pillow case, so the length of the case would be the length of the bag.

I pinned the bottom of the material to the sides.

Then I sewed the bottom of the case to the sides of the case so the shape of the pillow material is the same shape as the bag.
 I stitched up some pockets....
Sewed the lining to the crocheted bag.

So now I have a lined, crocheted, brightly colored bag...with no handles.  BUT
Do not fear!!!!  I found some handles, bought them...and

I sewed these handles on the bag by hand....

and viola'....which I think is a french word!.....I have a colourful summer fun purse!!!!

hmmmm, maybe I'll make a white one.  Or a cottony natural colored one....ooooh la la....I'm gonna do it.  See ya at the next party.

Happy Birthday To You!

Over the weekend we surprised my Sister with a Birthday overnight trip.  First stop was cousin Vickie's house.  There, we gave her a card with 44 ones in it.  We wanted her to have a little gambling money.  We were going to go to Blue Chip Casino, then shopping at the outlet mall.
We arrived in Michigan City at Supper time.  So we stopped at this fun restaurant that we surmised used to be a train depot...
Hence the train tracks.  Love the water view.  We were right on gorgeous Lake Michigan!
When we arrived at the motel, and got settled in, we had a toast to the Birthday girl

 and some birthday cake.
Remember the J. Edwards cake at my birthday party?  My sister said to save the leftover for her birthday!

 I did!

Vickie and I made drinks while Ashley readied the cake.  And Theresa, the birthday princess, and Mom,
who must have thought she was the Queen, waited to be served!
 Happy Birthday to you.
Happy Birthday to yoooou.

Happy Birthday Dear Tesssssy.
Happy Birthday tooooo yoooou.
After all this celebrating, we finally went to the casino for awhile.  Ashley, who is 30,

got carded three times!  (we did a lot of going in and out of the casino for one reason or the other)  I told her she'd be happy about it someday!

We went to one of the bars for awhile to listen to music, but of course, the band was on break at the time, but we did get a group photo!

The next morning we ate at the buffet. Just like in Vegas!  YUM!  Omelettes to order.
Then ....SHOPPING at the outlet stores....I have to admit....I am in love with the Fossil outlet store.  In love you hear me!

I hope you have a wonderful day today for your birthday Sister, and I hope you had a great weekend.
