Wednesday, Faux' vacay

I couldn't even get a picture of this chicken pot pie before my Shug started eating it.  Not my thing, but he loves it and since I was going to be at my friends the entire day Wednesday, I decided it was a good time for cpp.  And I could make it the evening before.

So, I left off on Tuesday, with faux' vacay.  On Wednesday, I went to my friends house to help her with a room.  Remember, we traded work.  She helped me Monday, I helped her Wednesday.
I  could  not  believe  her  yard!
Would you look at this?
Even the back yard is like this...
And there is a lot of outside cuteness going on at her place.
She has been working VERY hard outside this year...

But the room inside....well....not so cute!
However, I'm not posting a before pic until I can show you the after pic.

I will show you this YUMMY salad we had for lunch.

 More cuteness!

We dug this table out of our pole barn on Monday, and she took it home to use as a place to pot plants at her house.
Perfect!

My DOVE candy that day said to learn something new with an old friend.
I learned she has a thing for boxes!
On Thursday morning I went to crochet...
and I saw this bag on this lady.
I, of course, would need a bigger bag, because...well....I have a thing for bags.
I loved the colors though.

More faux' vacay tomorrow......

This and That

Some highlights of my week...

Last Friday our family and friends got together at Cool Creek Park in Westfield, IN to attend a Polka Boys Concert.
Dad and my bro
We go every year and always have a great time!
Our cousin Vickie and Sister Theresa and me

Mom, Dad, Sis, me, Bro

Me and my Shug
My faux' niece Lexi, my real nieces Taylor and Sarah.

The next morning I donned my Birks, my hippie bag (which I got in Mexico) and went to the Farmers Market (I'm not this skinny, it was just taken at a great angle.  I wish I was though!)

I love the Farmer's Market but I never know what to buy.  I bake, we have a garden, we get beef from a neighbor who raises cows...

  A lupine plant!  SOLD!
Have you ever read the book Miss Rumphius?
Well it's won awards.  It's a childrens book about a lady who lives in a cottage by the sea and she wants to make the world a better place so she plants lupine seeds everywhere she goes.
READ IT
I've decided to be like Miss Rumphius!  I planted lupine seeds this year and I have teeny tiny plants.  Don't you think the leaves look tropical.
When I saw this older plant, I decided it was what I needed.
I think I'll go back to the market today if I can get there before the rain. (yes again)
Ok so I got off on a rabbit trail there.....
back to the Farmer's Market.
I left the market and on the way back to the car I saw this!!!
At a church!

So many things I could have bought, but this was all I came home with.  I had seen a craft that could be done with these.  And even if I don't do the craft, we use these all the time under our furniture.
I am in the process of getting rid of stuff, so I have to be very careful of what I come home with.
(anyone need any purses?  I have a bunch....)

When I got home, I was in the kitchen and when I looked out the window I saw this beauty having lunch in my Shug's garden!  I was thinking maybe I should have bought some tomatoes at the Farmer's Market!!!

Saturday evening we went to the fair and there was hardly anyone there.
Every year I weave a rug at the fair.  Our spinning group runs one of the cabins in the pioneer village.
But this year I didn't make it.  We had a lot of rain and they even closed the fair early one night.
My Shug and I went on a date on this evening.

The fair was very empty which surprised me.  It was the last night and the weather was perfect.

I felt sorry for the vendors as we walked right up to whatever we wanted...
no lines.  Not even for the elephant ears!

I think our fair has one of the best pioneer villages around.  This year they added a jail

and an apothecary.

On Monday evening these ladies came over for a visit.  I haven't seen the one in the orange shirt for 20 years!  She lived with the family across the street from us, during her and my senior year in high school.  She became a very good friend to me.  And the family across the street from us, growing up, happen to include the two ladies on the right.  The one in the back was my best friend growing up.  She moved away, and is now back.  I hope we get to visit more often.  The one in the orange shirt....well I reckon I'll have to go to Mexico to visit her!  Maybe in February......

So that was some of the highlights of my week and I have to say I enjoyed every bit of it.

What fun stuff did you do this week?

Happy 59th Birthday to meeeeee!!!!!

 Hey there!
Well TODAY, I am 59 years old.
Which means, I am starting my 60th year of life, right?
Here's my thinking....you live a whole year, then you turn one.  So I've actually lived 59 years, hence 59 years old.
Which means I'm starting on my 60th year.
So, I'm living it up!
It's the best excuse I could come up with!

SO, I planted a fairy garden (teehee - I'm living it up allright!)
My Shug and I went to a garden stroll last Saturday and then we went to Patti Beck's garden party!  She's my ceramic artist friend that has very cool fairy garden stuff for sale, amongst other things, and I decided I'm putting out a fairy garden.
As a matter of fact, I decided I'm working on one project a week.  My word of the year is FOCUS so I'm going to FOCUS on one project a week.  This week it was our annual July 4 party, which we are planning on having Saturday (tomorrow) July 1.

So anyway, that was Wednesday evening, when I should have been cleaning house for the party.
Then Thursday morning, I went to crochet group.  And I have no idea what they are doing here....Poor K had just about had it with us I think~
And Cheryl...well, according to K, Cheryl was just "THINKING TOO HARD!"
Dammit Cheryl!
You see, K got us all instructions and yarn and made up little kits for us to make crochet water balloons.  (I'll show pics later)
They're easy she says.
15 minutes to make she says.
Well....ahem....
Debbie was laughing so hard tea almost came out her nose, and I was laughing so hard my stomach hurt.  And I can't even remember what was so funny!
 Here we are...having fun!

It was Debbie's birthday too (well, Wednesday was her birthday), So K brought us really cute cupcakes.  I forgot to take a picture of it before I ate it, but here's what it looked like when it was gone!  Yum....turtle cupcake!
Then I came home and had a quick lunch with my Shug and met my friend, Marcia, at Starbucks.
And when I ordered they said it's buy one cold latte' get one free so you might as well get two, so I did!  Which I could not drink.  Way too much latte'.
 Marcia....Me
 The card Marcia got me....

Then I went and got my hairs cut!
And decided I needed some REAL food (teehee)
Come on, you know you want some!  Just look at that grease....mmmmmmm
Then.....Yes this was all Thursday!!!!  Then.....I went to a Chata Chicks meeting.  And they had a cupcake for me.
Here they are.  I was trying to take a pic of us all and this light beamed on my head.
so we moved and took another one and it didn't turn out so great either....But here we are!
I got home around 12:30 AM (I think it's AM-it was the next morning!  Not bad for a 59 year old right?  Staying out past midnight!)  and could not sleep because of a storm.  A BIG HUGE STORM!
Almost two inches of rain with lightening and thunder that I thought was going to strike inside our bedroom!

So today, on my actual birthday, I got up and decided to fry some bacon.  And eat an entire bacon sandwich, not just two little strips!  And yes it's on paper plates because I'm not doing dishes today!

And later on My Shug and I split the cupcake from the night before, and surprise!!!!!  It's red, white and blue!!!!
So today, on my actual birthday....as I am  heading to meet Mom and Dad and Vickie and Robert for a birthday dinner at Martino's, we had a gully-washer!  As a matter of fact, we got another 2 1/2 inches of rain this afternoon.  And when I got home, the pond/shooting range is flooded.

I don't know what we are going to do...we have a big Independence Day (July 4) party planned for tomorrow....BIG...HUGE   people coming from out of town.

To be continued....
when we figure out what we're going to do!
