First Friday and Coral Belle

On Friday, our downtown had what they are calling First Friday.  And on Friday, I had my niece for the night.  I wanted to go to First Friday, she did not.  My Shug, my niece and I went :-)
But I also made dinner plans.  Remember this kid?  I'm sure you don't....I used to "Babysit" him!!!  Blogettes, this kid used to wrap his arms around my leg when I was walking across the hard wood floor so he could go for a ride!!! He was three then.   He is driving now.  I can't stand it!  Where does the time go?
Before dinner we went to First Friday.  This is only the second one they've had and there was a lot of people there!  And my niece didn't want to leave!  She even asked if we could go again next month, and bring her Mom!
The first stop was the art gallery downtown and they were having a special Women of the World display.  It's still going on so for those of you who live in town, go.  You will not be disappointed.  It was very inspiring.

We were so inspired the next morning we got out the clay.

If you look really close, you might find some little itty bitty sprouts in this soil.  I planted some chamomile seeds in my fairy garden, which is a potted plant that I've showed you before.  I'll show you again in a few days.

Here is the icing on the cake.  My niece wanted to see my new camper.  She is all excited about having fun in it with her cousins.  When she saw it she got this expression on her face and said something like...."well, you weren't kidding....you do have to fix it up!"
And then she said....and I might mention I LOVE THIS.....she said, "I really like that you named it Coral Belle.  Coral reminds me of the ocean, and the color of the camper reminds me of the color of the water in the ocean."     Out of the mouths of babes I tell ya......

Ripple-a-long Monday

Remember Ripple Tuesdays?
Much has changed.
1) Kristi is recovering...
2) The yarn store has moved locations and isn't open yet...
3) Tuesday crochet now meets on Thursdays, but isn't meeting right now because of change #2.
4) We kind of stopped working on them because of Christmas projects and Winter Woolen Workshop projects.

So, when I saw a post on Facebook from Melissa,  Day to Day saying she was going to have a ripple-a-long, I decided to join in.  I really want to get this blanket done and it's the right motivation to get me going.
It's big and nice and snuggly right now so it keeps me warm while I ripple.  And it's so darn cold out right now.  Apparently we are in the direct path of another snow/ice storm.

So, on Friday evening, I got the blanket out and started working on it.  But the minute I got it out, my niece, who was spending the night, sat on my lap.  Then, in a jealous fit, Dixie sat on my lap.  So I was attempting to ripple around them.  Not a good idea.  I ripped that row out.
Big difference between ripping and ripple-ing!
Then Sunday evening I got it back out.  Apparently,  Dixie thinks it's an open invitiation for him to jump on my lap.   And when he looks at me like this....I have a hard time resisting.  So I settled him in beside me, and got started....again.
He just likes to snuggle.

 Here it is so far.
It's quite an ambitious project for me.  I want it to fit our bed.
It looks like it's about half way there, but it really isn't...I haven't pulled it down over the end of the bed.

So I need to get back at it folks.....
If I can keep him off of it long enough....sigh...

Emergency Meeting for Groovy Girls of Anarchy

So.  I called an emergency meeting of the Groovy Girls of Anarchy.  And here's the thing...our Groovy Girl closed the yarn store!
NOT TO WORRY...she is relocating.
Moving to a better location on the West side of town.  It's gonna be nice.  She plans on having her grand opening on April 1, but might open sooner if she has it all moved and ready.  This new place is going to be cute and cozy.
So, we had our emergent meeting at the Big Ben Coffee shop.  And here's the thing folks....I'm a little concerned because Groovy Girl's new location is going to be right by this coffee shop, which happens to serve the best latte's in town.  (try a Winter Wonderland or a Cabin Fever if you don't believe me)

So, four of us showed up and Groovy Girl says, "Bee, why did you call this meeting?"
I'll tell you why, Because I decided our friend Kristi needs crochet heart bunting for her bed.

And I thought it would be more special if we all made it.  So I called an emergent meeting, brought the yarn and the pattern, and Lordy was there a bit of grumbling.......Bee do you know what you are doing?  This can't be right?  I'm going to try it this way? Have you made this pattern before? I have too many meetings today for this.   Get out of my space?  This is my space, this is your space...
blah blah and blah...

Then Ben walks up...our Barista...I said to smile.....and what does he do,
he holds up muffins in front of his face!

 Better.
And we needed an odd number of hearts...but there were only four of us, so each of us crocheted a row on the last heart.  It turned out a bit wonky...but
 what do you think?
As we were decorating the bag, the Granny Bee got a text.  Kristi can have visitors.
See you Wednesday Kristi!
With some crochet heart bunting for your bed.  We love you girl!

Oh yeah...the other thing....Groovy Girl Yarn's new location is right by a chocolate shop too.  YUM!
