You know how you attend a garden show over and over and you always see something new and you never get tired of the old.....well that's my gardening friend Patti Beck's garden. On Saturday, after working beehives for close to three hours, I showered up and decided to go to Patti's open house. I texted Reality Jayne, last minute, to see if she wanted to join me, and she was ready to go!
I took lots of pics....so let's take a tour...but first, check out these chicks! AdOrAblE!
The pottery you see in these pictures, Patti makes and sells. She has a garden open house once a year.
Of course, we both had to buy a few pottery goodies.
I hope you enjoyed the tour.
Her Christmas open house is December 1. Mark your calendars now!
Yesterday my friend and I were out and about, and when we turned the corner we saw this in the sky in the distance. We thought, at first, it looked like a tornado. Whatever it was it was moving very fast and coming right at us. She was driving fast trying to get to our house, where we were going to run inside and take shelter.
When she turned down the street I live on, there were a lot of big trees swaying, and we started praying we'd make it safe with no trees falling on the car.
By the time we got to my house, which was probably five minutes away, it came and went, in about two minutes! That fast.
It was just a lot of hard, fast rain.
Later in the day, we got a beautiful cloud show. I tried to take pics, but it was hard because I was driving. We did not get any rain out of this though.
Lots of thunder, but no rain.
The clouds were moving very fast. Some of them looked like they were bumping into each other.
I just thought you might enjoy the show in the sky.
Thank you so much for all of your quick food ideas. I'm going to re-read them and give some of them a try.
Also, for those of you who live around here, there is a wonderful garden show you should go see. It's a free tour and she has even been featured in Better Homes and Garden magazine. Her name is Patti Beck and her address is 6277 N. 400 W. Sharpsville, IN 46068. It's from 9 - 5 today and she also has a pottery studio. If you went to the French Flea Market, you saw her there selling her garden pottery (Santa's, fairies, wind chimes, garden markers, etc.) Don't know if I'll have time to go there, I'm gonna try.
Since we've been building this house, food has been an issue. It's hard to fix dinner because I'm either out at the other house, with no way to fix dinner, or my Shug doesn't come home until 8:00 or 9:00 pm, and he just grabs something out when he gets off of work. Last week I made a simple tuna salad. Tuna Celery Pasta Mayo Mix it all together and chill. That's it. Put some panera bread and dipping oil and a glass of wine and you have a quick meal.
When we were on our way home from Kentucky, we saw this tomato stand.
BLT's. A quick meal!
That Panera bread.....
cover it to melt the cheese...
add some fruit...
a quick meal...
Don't even try to eat this sandwich on your own. It's big bread.
This morning I used the same loaf of bread and made my Shug and I some toast. I got up for a minute and my toast disappeared.
GUILTY .....but cute.
So anyway, do you have any other ideas for quick, transportable meals?
I'm 59. A wife, a beekeeper, a gardener, and a crafter. I like to read; novels and old cookbooks with history in them are my favorites. I've been married for 21 years to a loving, hard-working man, who makes me laugh. We have a little dog that was found dumped in a park, and given to us. He is a boy, but has a girl name. Sorry Dixie. (could be uni-sex I suppose)
We have decided to take a journey together and build a new home on some land we purchased a few years ago. We are building the home ourselves. In 2016 we moved to the main level of our new home. I've created "The House on Hilltop Farm" blog, so I can record the house building journey. The Bee Lady from Hilltop Farm is about everything else going on in my life.
Nice to meet you.
So, I showed my niece my new (old) camper and she said, "I love the name coral belle. Coral reminds me of the ocean and the color of the camper reminds me of the color of the water in the ocean." (Out of the mouths of babes!)
